A treatment I found online, from a reputable source, is 4-6 brewers yeast

tablets daily, plus biotin (we take 800 mcg). The biotin also helps with fat

breakdown.

Susie,

Just curious... what does the brewers' yeast do for the liver? Did your

source say? It's full of vitamin B, isn't it?

I feel like an idiot ... can't give you a good answer. Brewers yeast is full

of B1, B2, Niacin, and other B vitamins. Somehow, that in combo with the

Biotin is supposed to pamper the liver - but that's all I know. I found the

info on some reputable site, like the web site for U.S. pharmacists?

Susie,

Oh no... don't feel like that... I know that I read things, and it sticks in

my mind that it's a good thing to take, but I don't always remember why :-)

Ah... a good thing to know. Thanks! I know that milk thistle also supports

the liver, but I have no idea why -- only that it's non toxic. I'm taking

the sub-lingual Vitamin B12 now. It's only every 2 or 3 days, so I'm taking

it Monday, Wednesday, and Friday... as someone mentioned, tastes like a

sweet-tart :-) I figure that since I don't eat bread or rice, it would be

good to make sure I get my B vitamins. Maybe I'll add the Brewer's yeast,

but is it in tablet form? I don't think I'd use it if I had to put it on my

food... not regularly anyway.

I believe milk thistle contains many phytochemicals which are useful to

the

liver and aid in its health and detoxification. I believe it works

differently from yeast. So I would (and do) go for both.

Thanks, :-) I didn't know how it worked, but only that it was

supposed to support the liver and was non-toxic.

Although I don't use brewer's yeast which doesnt taste great to me, I do

use nutritional yeast which I believe has much the same, and depending on

the make, often better nutritional value

,

I've never heard about nutritional yeast... that's a new one. Thanks!

Yes. They're brown tablets, and they're very inexpensive. The Biotin is also

part of the liver tonic, and, as I mentioned, is supposed to aid in fat

breakdown.

Susie,

Oh, good... I didn't want to sound picky, but the thought of Brewer's Yeast

on food has never much appealed to me :-)

Right... I need to write all this down :-) I might have missed one of the

posts on this... are you saying that you get a liver tonic pill that's a

combination of brewer's yeast and biotin? Or, are you saying that brewer's

yeast and biotin *would be* part of a good liver tonic if one were to put a

liver tonic together? Did that make sense?

We take the 4-6 brewers yeast tablets plus the one 850 mcg Biotin separately

.... the first two yeast tablets plus the Biotin in the a.m. and the second

set of yeast tablets in the evening.

Thanks, Susie :-) You must have a couple of pill keepers to organize

everything... I know I have one now, but I think I need to get another one.

I take pills morning and night too.
