Guest guest
I think I may be just dumb or its just late, but I have the Decorating tips of this section about 5 times now and I am not exactly sure what I need to buy. I am going out tomorrow to hopefully get everything. Do I have this right: Clean Band with straight alcohol 2 coats Primer for plastic 2 coats of color Apply stickers or paint design 2 coats of varnish/sealer Is that all?? Just a few questions: 1- do I tape off the edges so not to get paint on foam? 2- I couldn't find a patriots sticker small enough so I printed the logo onto paper...what can i use to get the paper to stick? 3- HOw do you clean the outside of the band once its painted and decorated....will water work I think thats all the questions I have for now...I will probably have more once I start decorating, hopefully on Wednesday!! Thank you Amy Mom to , 3 months old and , 3 years old
Guest guest
Hi Amy, We got our band painted by someone so I can't really help you. But I just wanted to tell you that it is a football helmet too. We did ours a Dallas Cowboy one. The man who painted 's helmet used acrylic markers. He first drew silver lines up and down the helmet then let it dry, He then drew the star and the lines on the back and front of the helmet. He let that dry a little. He then sealed it. When he sealed it he did tape the edges. I like the idea that someone else said on here about blowing up a balloon in the middle. Altogether it took about 2 hours and it cost $50. It looks great. I usually don't have to clean the outside of 's band. He may get a small splatter of veggie sometimes. I just wipe it with a wet rag. Good luck. Isn't that enough Just a few questions:1- do I tape off the edges so not to get paint on foam? It helps to keep things clean - painters tape works best or regular masking tape.2- I couldn't find a patriots sticker small enough so I printed the logo onto paper...what can i use to get the paper to stick? How about re-print it on a address label or mailing label - sticky stuff will already be applied. Otherwise, try regular glue. Once you seal over it - it'll probably be ok. 3- HOw do you clean the outside of the band once its painted and decorated....will water work Same ole alcohol. You also may want to reseal/varnish once every week or 2. Keeps it looking fresh and staying on.I think thats all the questions I have for now...I will probably have more once I start decorating, hopefully on Wednesday!!Thank youAmyMom to , 3 months oldand , 3 years oldFor more plagio info
Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the tips on decorating. Many of you mentioned blowing up a balloon inside the helmet. What for?
