Guest guest
Tina. You sound like your doing great!! Keep up the good job!! You are pretty creative in the kitchen, I wish I had some of that! I was always such a picky eater when it came to vegies, I can not believe I am eating Zucchini and Asparagus now!! My Mom doesn't believe me!!! LOL You know they actually taste pretty good, but I told her I would have to get used to it!! LOL I made the Chocolate I posted yesterday, I think I did it wrong, it said 8 packets if equal, and I didn't have equal, I have Splenda in the box. So I used 8 teaspoons thinking that was equal to the equal, I guess I was wrong cause it still tastes bitter. ANy one know what I should have used??? Guest guest
Penny -- Here's my best WAG: If you were supposed to use 8 packets of Equal, that is theoretically equivalent to 16 teaspoons of sugar. I think the bulk Splenda says you should use/measure it " just like sugar. " Sooooo, I would use 16 teaspoons of Splenda. Actually, now that I think about it, I would probably look in my old Joy of Cooking under equivalents, and figure out what 16 teaspoons of anything would be equal to in cups (quarter? half? third?) Good luck! Guest guest
Penny you have to use a brand that you can use in cooking ,most will turn bitter with heat. that chocolate recipe is tempting I am waiting til over the 2 week intro to try it though is tempting!!! I am a chocoholic besides a carboholic!!!!LOL If you use the sugar free puddings and use the cream instead of milk will htat be ok????? just thinking of a mousse !!!! when speaking of whipped cream do they mean the stuff inthe dairy case Heavy whippin cream or something else??? just wondering thanks for all your support and encouragement!! tina

The only problem Penny is that the box of Splenda is less concentrated than the packets. Plus, I just don't think that Splenda has the sweetness of other AS. I made a pumpkin cheesecake last night and it called for 16 packets of AS. I used Splenda and when I tasted the batter it was still bitter, so I added another 8 packets. I guess you might just have to use a trial and error method until you find what tastes good to you. Marilyn
Guest guest
Tina, Splenda is suppose to be good for cooking. Also I use Redi-whip in the spray can, it is <1 carb per 2 Tablespoons. Penny
