Guest guest
Well - we got quite a surprise today. We went to get identification cards for and myself(as military dependents). As promised, was to talk to the Navy Corpsman regarding the possibility of enlisting after high school (mind you, he's only 13!). The Corpsman told that he would have to take a test and that he could apply for a waiver. He explained that he himself had to apply for a waiver because he wore glasses. First he asked what wanted to do in the Navy. Work on submarines. He sighed deeply and said, well, at least you don't want to be a SEAL. Hmmm. So anyway. We told the corpsman what meds currently takes. He wasn't particularly fazed. We asked him if he knows what cf is. He said he does. So, looks as though can go for it. His recommendation was to try to go for becoming an officer and to get a good education. (Gee, you'd think he'd consulted us or something beforehand on that point!). As to possibilities? The only thing that was pretty much definitely ruled out was SEAL duty. So. is in his glory. Definitely in his glory. He's hit the books hard and even made a more sincere effort at cleaning his room this afternoon. Of course he knows that the i.d. card will be confiscated if he doesn't keep his room clean, but so far it's only been a matter of hours! Whether or not would actually be able to serve in the Navy would still be subject to the needs of the Navy (what billots would be open that would be in line with 's aptitude etc.) and whether or not he could actually GET a waiver. The corpsman also reminded (as we have on numerous occasions) that if he weren't able to get a waiver to enlist, that he could still look for a government contract job and be close to the Navy that way. If you were looking for cloud 9, has currently snagged it! To recap slightly: joining the Navy has been 's heart's desire since ???? The corpsman asked if he'd outgrow his needs for his current meds which makes me wonder if he really truly does know what cf is - but that's okay. 's immune system got a very big boost from a HUGE surge of hope! -- Peace and rainbows, Agnes Agnes.@...
