vitamin C , post surgery, on the surface of the skin at least prevents

scarring almost totally in some people. I have seen pictures that are

remarkable. wonder if the same

process works internally? I feel that it would. gg

Don't you mean Vitamin E to help the wound heal? You can break an Vitamin E

capsule open and it's an oily substance that you spread on a scar or sore

externally. I don't know how you'd use Vitamin C topically??

I can offer a few comments about healing and adhesions from a myo,

from my recent experience:

- Talk to your doctor; I expressed concern about these issues to my

doctor each time I saw her, including just moments before I went

into the operating room(to remind her about our decisions). I think

this helped with her taking extra care in how she sutured me.

- My doctor told me that she used something I think is called

seprafilm, internally, to help prevent adhesions. (I jotted this

down the day after surgery, after very little sleep and heavy pain

meds, so it's possible I didn't write it accurately.)

- My personal trainer suggested that I take " Ester C " , which is

vitamin C with bioflavonoids, to aid in healing. She also suggested

taking an herbal supplement Hawthorn Berry. If you research this,

you'll find it's most suggested for people with heart condition.

But my trainer told me about a study in which animals with damaged

tissue healed faster with the hawthorn berry applied to them vs.

those who received a placebo. (I'm not a medical professional, so

am just offering this info in the interest of sharing what I've

heard from others - suggest you do your own research.)

- I also took some Arnica, in the tablet form that dissolves under

one's tongue. I think Arnica may also be available in topical

form. It's a homeopathic remedy that is known to aid in healing

from trauma, bruises, etc.

- Finally, I intend to use Mederma to aid in healing and reduce

scarring of my incision. My doctor told me I could use this after

my incision " heals " . I have my 2-week post-op check-up tomorrow,

and will know when I can start using the Mederma.

My recovery has gone very well thus far. I don't know how much of

that I can attribute to the items I mentioned above, as I also

focused on being in good physical and nutritional health pre-

surgery. Hope this helps!

Great question.

My alternative medicine licensed doctor had me take 500 mg. of Vitamin C

3x/day for a month before and after the surgery to promote wound healing.

Normally, I take 500 mg. a day for my asthma.

I took Arnica 30C x5-6 pellets every 4 hours while awake for the day of and

up to 3 days after my myo. I am a huge fan of arnica! It is one of the

most magically healing herbs. I use it personally and professionally.

I also took Gotu Kola (he sold it to me so I don't know other options)

tincture 10 drops in water 2x/day for a month before and after the surgery.

My doctor has seen huge differences in how people recover depending on

whether or not they used this herbal product.

I was always told that taking too much of Vitamin C a day is not good for

the system (normal should be 500mg/day). FOR you to take 1,500 mg a day for

a month - didn't that cause acidity ?

1,500 mg of C is not even considered a megadose. What is not used by the body

is excreted in the

urine. Most of the parameters of normal doses were set in the era when

foodstuffs actually contained

vitamins. Never mind the pesticides which deplete vitamins. gg.
