Guest guest
, I think the sleep thing is different for everyone. I just started sleeping in bed last week, and wasn't able to sleep on my side or stomach until 2 days ago (my surgery was 4/25). Now, I can sleep on my stomach! Yay! It's still not 100% comfy, and I find myself turning alot, but it's SO much better as far as getting a good night's sleep. This happened very suddenly. Last week, I couldn't even roll onto my side. A few days later it was no problem. Don't worry too much about sleep. Since you're at home, you can make it up with naps until you feel better, which I'm sure will happen soon! - Alice A. Guest guest
Thanks Alice A!! Any advise is appreciated! And YEAH for you for being able to sleep on your tummy or side! I wouldn't worry too much about being on a plateau now. Seems like everyone's body reacts differently and it doesn't surprise me that your body may need a bit to catch up with your new eating. Plus everyone who I have seen on a plateau USUALLY has a week that they start dropping again! Try not to focus on it too much if you can! This will pass!! Enjoy trying out the food stage! You must be thrilled! Yippee! Hang in there! lknglas11@... wrote: ,I think the sleep thing is different for everyone. Guest guest
Jeanie, How are you doing? I haven't seen you post in a while. Hope all is going well with your recovery. I was a bit nervous about dh bumping me or something but it went just fine! Well I did have my cats to contend with a bit. They both desparately wanted to climb right on my tummy! OUCH! LOL Even had the kitty jump right smack on me once! But other than that it was ok. I do have to say though that I haven't really gotten a good nights sleep since the night before my surgery. In the hospital they wake you up every 5 seconds it seems or just when you get into a good sleep...And when I got home I camped out on the couch which wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world! Anyway I am just wondering when will I get a good sleep again!!!??? I just want to be able to lie on my side and feel comfy again! I am totally not a back sleeper (had never even done it before this surgery!) and my neck and back are really starting to kill! On a better note...last night I had some vanilla pudding for the first time! Talk about yummy!!! MMM It was sooooo good! And the measly 4 oz that would have made me laugh before filled me right up! Amazing!

Guest guest
: I share you desire for a good night's sleep. I too am not a back sleeper, but found no other way the first few days post-op. Since being home I have discovered I can lay on my side quite comfortably if I prop a pillow under my belly (sort of a resting place for the sore tummy). I find I need to tuck it under a bit and sort of roll on to it. Sounds weird but it did work for me. I also have kitties that like to sleep on my tummy. They can't understand why it's off limits now (especially the 20-pounder). One of the smaller kitties did manage to land a direct hit - kind of ouchy. Good luck with your recovery. Guest guest
Lois, How are you doing? It is so good to see you back on line! Thanks for the info. I haven't been able to get over on my side yet!!!! I will definitely try the pillows. I have tried every other position and have been unsuccessful with it. I was thinking of getting one of those full body pillows to see if that works. Oh those kitties! LOL Gotta love em! Take care and good to hear from ya! Guest guest
Hey, Guys, I'm 3 weeks post-op today, and last night was the first night that I got a full nights sleep! I'm so excited!! Not being able to sleep and having to come back to work has been hard. But, it looks like things are changing for the better. Saw my surgeon yesterday for my weekly check-up. He said that things are looking really good. I still have some swelling in my cheeks, but all of my suture areas looked good. (I had the dissolvable stitches and they started coming out at 2 weeks...I think they are all gone now.) He also told me that I could start stretching my jaws as I can only open 1 finger width (nail to the side) right now.
Guest guest
Hi . Good for you! Sleeping nites makes a huge difference. It really gets better fast from now on. I am at 5 weeks (tomorrow)and in spite of still waking up nites now & then w/ jaw pain I can honestly say that I am really over the hump... In fact, today is my best day ever. Up til now, everyone has been saying I look good and my photos look so much better than before but when I looked in the mirror, my mouth seemed so frozen and unnatural and I secretly feared that I wouldn't really like that appearance change (even tho I was pleased as punch from day one with my new profile and bite)... My bite is great, but my mouth looked weird and crooked to me and my smile looked phony... This morning when I looked in the mirror... suddenly I liked it.. I am so happy (and vain..hah, hah...I admit it.. but who isn't) Everything just seems to be falling in place and I can breath easy again because I don't have that fear haunting me... honestly, I was dreading returning to work next week because when you don't like your face it's like a permanent bad hair experience... it's not that I didn't like the look, I just seemed like a stranger to myself... Anyway, I think all of us share a lot of these experiences and hopefully we can get beyond the pain and fear asap and start really enjoying ourselves!! Congrats again on your progress! Take care, > Hey, Guys, > > I'm 3 weeks post-op today, and last night was the first night that I > got a full nights sleep! I'm so excited!!
