Guest guest
, Do you know what causes the condensation within the tubing? I know I may sound pretty stooopid on this one, so here goes nothing...If the air is blowing out - how in the world is moisture getting pulled back in?!?!? has a Pari Neb and it is roughly 1 year 3 months old. Being as this is her one and only, I am unsure on the average life span. As for the portable - this is a definite prescription that I am going to ask her doc to write up at her next visit! I was unaware that such precious items were available! I guess we all learn as we go! Oh, as for your portable - is there anyway you can gently put it out of it's misery so you can get a new one?!? Ha! Take care of your sweeties! on 07/07/2000 12:02:09 PM Please respond to cfparentsegroups To: cfparentsegroups cc: (bcc: -Holmes/Louisville/Humana) Subject: Nebulizer info. Hi, I checked my National Allergy Supply, Inc. catalogue today (800 522-1448), and wow, nebulizer prices have gone down in the last 5 years. I ordered the basic at-home Pulmo Aide for 89.99, and I think it was about 150.00 when we got our last one 5 1/2 years ago. The pulmo aide Traveller is also about 400.00 with the optional battery now, and it was over 500 when our insurance got it for us 5 years ago. If I were getting a portable today, I definitely wouldn't get the Pulmo Aide Traveler, because the battery is huge/heavy, and even when it's new it only gets about 4 treatments per charge (and our battery died pretty quickly). Pari seems to be out ahead with portable nebulizers. The Pari 3,000 looks really good (I know, I'm dreaming, since we can't get the insurance to replace our portable till it dies completely). The Pari DuraNeb 3,000 is 319.00, and it's more portable than the Traveler, since the battery's built in, and the neb itself is smaller and lighter (just 5.6 pounds total!) than Pulmo Aide's Traveler which is about 12 pounds if you're lugging the detachable battery around in the carrying case with the 6 pound neb. We had wanted a Pari portable in the first place, but our HMO would only do the Pulmo Aide becasue that's what their home health agency carried. I can't wait for our new at-home Pulmo Aide to get here! It will be great to cut minutes off the neb time, and not have the tubing fill up with condensation like it's been doing for a month now (I don't mean the normal little bit of condensation, I mean LOTS of condensation). bye, , mom of Meagan 5 (cf, asthma) and Kailin 7 (asthma) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Free, Unlimited Calls Anywhere! Guest guest
Just an impute here......generally ..........NOT ALWAYS...insurance co.'s won't purchase a piece of equipment(DME) outside of their designated time frame. REGARDLESS of what happened to it......we have tried for several folks to come up with legit reasons and they simply say, " Oh well, You are allowed so many is certain time frame.....take care of it!!-or buy the second (next ) one yourself. " Occasionally a doc has been able to write a letter to convince them ...the patient NEEDS it .does better job...well longer,,,,,,,,less meds needed, less hospital visits, etc.....on & on.......it is really a pain how they make us all crawl for what we need.!! I am now getting off my soap box-----sorry.........I just deal with these _____ ___ all day, every day......sorry..............!! LOVE & HUGS, " Sweet little ole me " . :) GRANDMOMBEV Nebulizer info. Guest guest
Ours only gets damp in the tubing when it's humid outside or we're in the basement. The wet is coming in from the air intake not the nebulizer in our case. Tammy mom of Zack 5wcf and justine 3nocf Nebulizer info. Guest guest
- After all of his talk about Nebulizers I decided to call the Lung Center and speak to them about a new one for . We have had hers for 3 years. It still works fine but I think it is beginning to slow down a bit and condensate more. We use one mask for the albuterol and another pari " tube " for her pulmo. They ordered me another one right away. It's a similar model to the inspiration, just newer. My insurance should cover it. Kathy G.
Guest guest
Hi and all, during this whole discussion about portable nebulizers I saw no mentioning of the ultrasonic nebulizers. Why? They are very small, quiet, comparatively cheap and run on simple AA-batteries. The only downside I know of is, that you can't nebulize heat-sensitive meds like Pulmozyme. I have read some positive comments about Omron nebulizers on the german list. Bye-bye Torsten, dad of Fiona 3wcf e-mail: aberdeen95@... Guest guest
BECAUSE YOU CANNOT USE PULMOZYME in them.........They would render them useless.........It is DNA and can't " take the heat " :) ..You would need different machine.most Ins. won't pay for that... I dont think the socialized countries would either.....maybe , but most likely not all. LOVE, grandmomBEV Re: Nebulizer info. Guest guest
Torsten est al: I have seen these on some European web sites for neb equipment. I really wanted one but found it was not covered under our Canadian Gov't program. What I liked about them is they only nebulized when you were breathing into it...if you stopped then it would stop too...therefore no wasted meds...perfect. Here is the website of one I discovered http://www.medic-aid.com/ But if I purchased one over the internet with my own money, I would also worry about having to get it serviced. I would not want to send it to Europe to get fixed. I would rather deal with my trustworthy certified respiratory representative who will lend me another nebulizer when mine needs to be repaired.
