Guest guest
Hi Marie and others Answer No 1 . They have all sorts of diving trips from here. Lots of Japanese do it and Americans. The Marriott hotel here even has a reef swimming pool with coral and tropic reef fish. Surfers Paradise is not near the Great Barrier Reef, that starts about 350 miles further North and continues almost to the top of OZ ( A VERY long way ) No 2. there is a bike hire shop in the mall opposite the beach board walk, I haven't seen a 3 wheeler PEDDLE bike but lots of motorised models. You would be fine on the board walk on a peddle bike, but stay clear of the roads. Traffic is as bad here as in Vegas.. I'd rather you fly home in a seat Marie, not in the cargo hold..... ( Marcus looks serious ) Will be wonderful to see you again Marie I cant wait. Marcus
Guest guest
Wow, sounds great! I can't believe you got 27 people who are interested! I would not come alone, but if we have a group it would be a blast! Marie Marcus wrote: > Hi Marie and others > Answer No 1 . They have all sorts of diving trips from here. Guest guest
Hi and just want to tell you that I am thinking about going to Australia if I can manage it and would be happy to share a suite with you and others . Are you interested in touring around other parts of Australia as well ?Maybe we could get a group of people to do that either before or after the convention at Surfers Paradise ! The more the better ! Tev

Guest guest
Yeah! Christi and I are very serious about going, but it's looking like a $3,000 trip or so. We definitely want to see as much as possible while we're there, and I'm not talking about Marcus in his speedos! Also, if anyone finds deals on airfare, let the rest of us know. And we would be happy to share rooms/suites/cabs/bus fares, etc... --- Marie Drew wrote: > I'm with Tev there; if we are spending all this > money on airfare, it would be nice to tour around a > bit either before or after? Guest guest
I'm with Tev there; if we are spending all this money on airfare, it would be nice to tour around a bit either before or after? Me too ) I want to see things. Gosh, I told Marcus 'maybe" and I think that it's now converted to a "yes". I want to see as much as I can though. I'll probably never get back there. I've been checking some sites. A lot is involved. There's the passport, visa and visa permit. Plus the immunizations and updates ( And other stuff. But it's gonna be FUN!!! Hey Marcus, do you have alligators/crocodiles? Spiders?? (I HATE SPIDERS!!!!) Hey, do you all want special nametags (my memory isn't the best all the time and I'm sure others feel that way too)? I'm just learning how to do different stuff on the computer. I've made specialized mousepads, magnets, greeting cards, and business cards. Maybe I can do something for the trip? I haven't tried making a T-shirt/iron-on yet. Maybe we can come up with some kind of design and I can do that. I'll do some testing. I know that they sell the kits. I just had no need to get one. And I can get good t- shirts at a fairly low price. I saw them advertised in a flier from a mail order place that I got in the mail. Enough gabbing ) Let me know what you think of the t-shirt idea. And Marcue, maybe you can write up, in one of your trip installments, about the requirements if you want to make the trip. Like a valid Visa, Passport and I don't really know what this is...but a Visa Permit. What about the necessary immunizations? I do know that some of these things take time and knowing about them in advance would cause less trouble as the trip nears. I know that, myself, I would want the trip planning and the trip itself to be as pleasant as I can make it. So... Bye ) I mean it this time!!! Guest guest
I am wondering, do we leave from the West Coast? If so, could we do our own thing, and meet as a group and fly from the West Coast? How long are you planning to be gone? We would need to coordinate dates? As long as it takes a group of NF2ers to decide on where to go to breakfast, we better start NOW! Guest guest
Almost all oz flights I've found go through LAX, Even coming from NY the routing was always through LAX, Qantas and United were both the same. (Personally I'll probably go United and fluff my frequent flyer mile account Pete > I am wondering, do we leave from the West Coast? Guest guest
I think if it ends up that a group of us go together, it is easier to keep track of the group if we all have the same bright colored t shirt; I would be glad to share the expense. Guest guest
Oh good grief Marcus - what have we done. Immunizations for gods sake, don't tell her about the spiders - I mean the poisonous ones, or the snakes that kill you in 10 minutes. June won't need anything like immunization, cause if the sun don't get her the snakes will ----- But if June brings plenty of sunblock for the sun, and drinks plenty of Bundy Rum to fight off the snake venom and she should be OK... from where the men do plunder da de da de da........ Guest guest
Marie, Tev and all of you thinking of coming to OZ, I agree with your thoughts about seeing as much as you can. I would like to make you aware of one of the advantages of taking this particular alliance option, "UNITED AIRLINES - AIR NEW ZEALAND and ANSETT". The reason I make this suggestion is that Ann and I flew to LA, then up to SF to stay with our son some years ago - but on the way back to OZ we flew Air NZ out of LA - and stopped over for 3 days in Honolulu - then we flew Air NZ to New Zealand - there was a large group of Americans who got off there to do a 3 - 5? day tour before flying onto Brisbane in OZ. We had an Americn girl from SF stay with us for a few days before she flew home flying Air NZ. The flight she took went to NZ with a stop over for 2 - 3 hrs before flying on to Tahiti where she stayed for 3-4 days??? not sure. Before flying on to LA then up to SF. So you could if you wanted to see 3 countries in the 1 trip. Whoever is going to do the research - I would think it worth while for you to investigate all those options above by getting in touch with Air NZ and getting one of their 2002 travel brochues, and look at what is on offer. Then I suggest that you go shopping for the cheapest travel agent as they are cheaper than Air NZ can do it for. Especially for groups. who has to go to bed because of a self inflicted headache. Darn Hoochy Cooch... I'm with Tev there; if we are spending all this money on airfare, it would be nice to tour around a bit either before or after? Sheryn Says: I asked friends who have a son in oz and visit his family quite frequently, about immunization and they said 'no nothing required'. Their visa was given to them by the travel agent at the time they got their tickets, some of you may want to ask about this...... Yes , they needed to get passports. For the visa, at one time you had to send a request....but its much handier now.Sheryn in Canada
