Guest guest
Hello Group- I just got my One Step Ahead catalog in today's mail and I found something interesting. Please visit the following link and let me know what you think or if you know anyone who has used this product...what did they think? Any success with it? Very intersting.....I wish I had seen something like this before I had Ashton. We had him on a positioner, up until a week ago, however I had never seen one like this designed specifically for plagio. http://www.onestepahead.com/jump.jsp? lGen=detail & itemID=794 & itemType=PRODUCT & iProductID=794 & change=117 Lori...mom to Ashton, 6 months old tomorrow L tort and plagio received helmet on 11/18/
Guest guest
Hi, Yes, I used this product with my son to prevent plagio. It worked well for him, he never developed it. I did not use it right away with my daughter, she has tort & plagio. It didn't work for her, she wiggles right off of the pillow to the other end of the crib. I also had to wash it several times to remove a chemical odor from the memory foam. Guest guest
Thanks for responding! My sister is due to have her first baby in April and I want her to be aware of what she can so that her little guy doesn't develop plagio. At least she can try this with her son......did the odor from the foam concern you a lot? Was it pretty bad? Would you recommend that my sister get this for her baby, since it worked for your son? Can you recommend any other products for her little one to use? My son was diagnosed with plagio/tort at 4 months, received his helmet at 5 months and will be 6 months tomorrow. I want to know everything I can about plagio to help inform my sister and for the sake of any future children I might have. Thanks!!!! Guest guest
Hi, We tried this and it didnt work for us at all. Or maybe we tried it too late. We noticed our daughters head was flattening at about 8 weeks and got it rushed then, but she used it all of the time and her head continued to get much worse. There might be better products out there. i wouldnt recommend this one. - B's mommy > > Hello Group- > > I just got my One Step Ahead catalog in today's mail and I found > something interesting. Guest guest
Hi Lori! I appreciate your posting a link to the Head n Back. I think we do have a link to this product here at our group site in the Links/Repositioning and Tummy Time/Repositioning Products folder. I thought one of these responses to your post about the odor from the memory foam interesting and certainly worth noting. It seems that there are newer positioners on and entering the market that are starting to address cushioning safely under the head, as well as touting them to help with plagio prevention through head position rotation during sleep. For my new baby born in October, I have used the Nightform and Dex Secure Sleeper. Neither has any foam odor. I don't know if the Nightform is formally on the market yet. Here are some links to positioners that have cushioning under the head from our links/repositioning and tummy time folder if you'd like to browse through a few! I think it would make a great gift (if the link is more than one line long, you'll need to copy and paste the entire link to your address bar): Amby Baby Motion Bed The Amby Baby Motion Hammock is helping babies across America and around the world enjoy a peaceful night's rest. While many babies sleep safely and soundly cuddled up with mom and dad in bed or sleeping in a crib, some babies have special nighttime needs that require a more creative approach. The Amby meets these needs. In the early months, babies are prone to developing a flat area in the back of the head due to the disproportionate weight of baby's head on a flat surface. Because the Amby allows baby to sleep in a slightly upright position, much of the baby's head weight is more evenly distributed to the rest of the body. The short answer to this is YES, the hammock will go a long way in addressing this problem. http://www.ambybaby.com Dex Secure Sleeper http://nursery.babycatalog.com/baby-sleeping-aides/secure-sleeper- 00336 Dex Secure Sleeper Ultra 3 in 1 http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-4419403-5767005? _encoding=UTF8 & asin=B00016S2X0 Head and Body Support by Dex Products in the U.S. This product has plagio written all over the promotional materials.
