Guest guest
Hi Cindi: Sounds like you got a keeper with this one and hope she continues to treat you like she did at this visit. I thought I had a good one too when he told me that he liked to keep his patients at a TSH of under 1 and tested the T's but later found out he flat out refused to Rx Armour. That was my last visit with him! From what I understand, and was told, the FSH isn't going to show anything until you've completely stopped having periods, and are truly menopausal meaning no periods for 12 consecutive months. I'm 48 and have had the FSH test but it didn't show anything, from what the doc said. I shoulda got copies of those labs, darnit! Debbie J. She's also ran blood work to check DHEA and FSH. I was unfamiliar with FSH but it's the Follicle Stimulating Hormone from the pituitary gland which supposedly tells where you are as far as menopause. Anyone else familiar with that one? But all and all, I felt I did find a endo that would work with me...and not against me. Cindi
Guest guest
Hi Jamy, What point in your cycle did you have these things tested sweetie? They all change throughout. I learnt this after they told me I wasn't ovulating but actually they weren't testing stuff in relation to my cycle - and actually I am ovulating! let us know won't you, fee xxx > testosterone 20 range 10-55 > bioavail testost. 3.0 range 1.1-14.3 > sex hormone SHBG 1.4 range 1.0-3.0 > DHEA 122 range 19-210 > Estradiol 19 range 7-30 > FSH 3.6 range 6-35 > Lutenising Hormo. 1.5 range 2-11 > so this is me, any suggestions? Guest guest
The little bit of research I did on PCOS said that the ratio of LH to FSH should be 1 to 1. A 3.6 to 1.5 is about 2 to 1 so it might be the start of PCOS. Louise PS When my gyn tested my hormones on the 3rd day of my period the range was normal. She did say that when your thyroid is out of whack it throws everything else out of whack. > testosterone 20 range 10-55 > bioavail testost. 3.0 range 1.1-14.3 > sex hormone SHBG 1.4 range 1.0-3.0 > DHEA 122 range 19-210 > Estradiol 19 range 7-30 > FSH 3.6 range 6-35 > Lutenising Hormo. 1.5 range 2-11 > so this is me, any suggestions? Guest guest
Hello, can I just add to what Louise wrote here about the LH/FSH ratio thing. It can be a bit confusing to compare the ratio of these because of the different amounts measured & different ranges for each hormone. If you have symtpoms of PCOS you'd be hairy, putting on weight, have high testosterone, low oestrogen (I think). An ultrasound scan of your ovaries would show this if you're worried. The FSH being quite low is good, it's a bit like the TSH, as it comes from your pituitary gland, and your pituitary isn't having to work very hard at all to stimulate your ovaries to ovulate, which means, I believe, that they're healthy & responsive. IMHO of course. Your LH will be low at times in your cycle, it has a surge around ovulation then drops off. I've got a graph of how these levels drop & fall in your menstrual cycle, I can mail if you privately if you like? I actually think your results look pretty good, your testoserone doesn't want to be too high, but again these all need to be interpreted in connection with where you are in your cycle, pre- luteal, ovulation, luteal phase etc. (I'm trying to get pregnant so I've had all these checked out with a gyno & an endo earlier this year). LOL Fee x x x ps when I had my levels checked last year (not this year) my LH & FSH were a little low, & now I'm on Armour they've come into range. pps thyroid deffo throws other stuff out of whack of that I'm sure > > testosterone 20 range 10-55 > > bioavail testost. 3.0 range 1.1-14.3 > > sex hormone SHBG 1.4 range 1.0-3.0 > > DHEA 122 range 19-210 > > Estradiol 19 range 7-30 > > FSH 3.6 range 6-35 > > Lutenising Hormo. 1.5 range 2-11 > > so this is me, any suggestions?
