Guest guest
actually , most surgeons don't remove them anymore... they are usually left on a pedicle - and then reattached - upwards of course ! Mollie - my husband is a plastic surgeon - and says this is the procedure that the most patients are happiest with . He always laughs because most women come back for their first pre-op visit wearing a sundress - they've never had one before ! And the other funny thing - they usually come in 5 - 10 pounds lighter ( in addition to the reduction) - because they've been working out and doing aerobics - something they've never felt at ease doing before. He always asks - have you been on a diet ? - and they're always surprised themselves that they've started losing weight ! > >Reply-To: Atkins-A-WayOfLifeonelist >To: Atkins-A-WayOfLifeonelist >Subject: Re: hi >Date: Thu, 02 Sep 1999 08:44:38 -0400 > > > >Wow cool! Guest guest
Lynette- I dont know if courage is part of it. I'm just soo tired of being in PAIN! When I get home from work I have to take my bra off immediatley because i'm in soo much pain. My neck ALWAYS KILLS and my back never feels good. I just think i'd feel alot better. I had one when I was 16 years old. I have never regretted it for a moment. I would do it again in a second. And the surgery has come a long way since 1980. Good luck with the insurance. Mine paid for it but I hear it is harder to get them to these days.

Back when I had it done, they gave me no hope of ever breast feeding. But I still say it was worth it.

Guest guest
In this procedure do you lose feeling in any of the tissue? And are you still able to breast-feed? Guest guest
They say there is a chance you won't be able to breast feed- and this does somewhat bother me... but I really think the positive aspects of the surgery and results outweight this possibility. They also say you can lose some sensation... but to be honest .... I dont have much now!!! So that doesnt worry me! Mol
Guest guest
Feeling isn't lost like it was previously ... surgeons have come a long way baby ! They pay attn to small details now <g> . Obviously I can't go into a great deal of graphic detail in this forum , but the procedure , as in most things in medicine, surgical and otherwise, has come a long way. Whereas, previously , it was not always possible to breastfeed postop , now it most often is - although , of course, there can always be exceptions... depending on anatomy and a few other variables. > >Reply-To: Atkins-A-WayOfLifeonelist >To: Atkins-A-WayOfLifeonelist >Subject: Re: hi >Date: Thu, 02 Sep 1999 15:34:26 -0400 > > > > >In this procedure do you lose feeling in any of the tissue? Guest guest
Meg, Was just curious to know if Moe has been checked for a bowel obstruction? My son had tummy pain on and off for at least six months and the cf doc had been told this every visit. Last year during Thanksgiving weekend he woke up with a fever and very lethargic and just wasn't his hyper self. After taking him in to the er they discovered a bowel obstruction. I had no idea this could happen and will continue to happen again. Mona mom of Haiden(6yowcf) Trevor(4yow/ocf) Hi > Sorry I have been inactive! Really busy lately. Guest guest
Meg, I am sorry that she is having BOTH tummy troubles and school troubles. What a bummer! I hope it gets resolved soon...I guess at least school is almost over. Why is it taking so long to get the tummy probs resolved? Do the docs have a reason? Has impaction been ruled out? And GER ruled out? Take care and thinking about you, Jen
Guest guest
Meg - I was wondering about a bowel obstruction too. Our doc recomended trying Milk of Magnesia for a couple of days ...then if it didn't improve go back and see her again. Kathy G.
Guest guest
Howdy, Everyone must be off having summer fun. There must have been mighty few posts today, because I didn't even get a digest. We've been doing fun summer stuff ourselves. Meagan started learning to ride her bike with no training wheels today. She was so proud, and too cute. We got our new nebulizer, but I haven't tried it out yet (back down to two nebs a day, woo-hoo!). So we'll put it through its paces for the 10 p.m. neb. I was so excited when I saw the UPS man heading for our door I met him halfway across the lawn :-) I'll be very glad to say adios to our old, s--l--o--w nebulizer!!! Anyone looking for a good movie to bring the kiddos to, I'd recommend the new Fantasia. My munchkins loved it, and Ken and I really liked it, as well. There's one scarey scene at the end (I hate it when Disney does that) with a volcano monster, but my kids seemed okay with it. My favorite was the flying whales song :-) bye, , mom of Meagan 5 (cf, asthma) and Kailin 7 (asthma)
Guest guest
Hugs Janis. I'm thinking of you. JanJul@... wrote: Hi all and I hope the change of seasons finds you feeling "as good as it gets". I am SO happy that summer is over. We live in FL and I am so glad for the cool weather. It makes me feel better. Our air conditioner broke over the summer and my hub would not let us fix it unless a friend did it and the friend has no time to do it so we have been without air for over two months and I have been in a house that is almost 95 degrees all day long. I have been quiet because I am really sick. I am having Grand and Petit Mal seizures again. I hate that my sweet 12 yr old daughter has to watch all of this, but it is the illness and not my fault. Easier to say than accept. Do any of you have seizures and have your muscles close in your chest so that you can't catch a breath? It is not an ashma attack, but a Mito symptom I am sure. This had stopped for a bit and is now back. Also, do you ever feel hot, but shiver as though you are feverish? I think my hub is just sick and tired of me. I have told many of you of our marriage problems, but I have to say, things are a terrible state. He walks into the door from work, does not say hello to either my daughter or me. I hate it. He pets the cat, takes a nap, yells at me all night and then goes to bed. My daughter asked me if her mom and dad are getting a divorce. I never said anything about it, but she sees and hears. Now that he is yelling at her too, I don't know what to do. I am at a loss. I know he has sleep apnea, but he won't go to a doc or get help for his obvious depression. We decided today that, it would be better if we stopped speaking to each other entirely. The many years of therapy did not help as he did not like hearing anything he needed to work upon. He felt it was a way of "ganging up on him" between our therapist and me. I worry about my poor daughter and, should something happen to me, she would then have no parents as he does maybe one percent of the parenting and would never do more. My fear is that I am near hospice. I can no longer care for myself. I am barely able to breathe or stand. What would my daughter do without me? I feel that, since my almost dying last April, I don't think I could fight again to get better again. Thanks. Janis JANERICJUL@...
