Guest guest
Hello Dana Welcome to the board. I'm not really sure what to tell you on the experience. Why don't you ask for reference. See if you can talk to parents that were in this ortho's care, parents/kids that are currently there, and then make your decision. The only other Ortho that I know with a low number like that was Mr Mottram in the UK, and everyone on this board that is using him speak very highly of him. You say that your ortho is well educated, so maybe he won't mind giving reference. It is a good idea to still check out your other options before you make a decision. Good luck, and let us know how it all goes. By the way, casting isn't that bad. ) Looks much worse than it is. Guest guest
Hey, Dana. My daughter is wearing a helmet from Hanger. We live in Long Island so I can't speak of the orthotist by you. I have been soooo happy with the hanger helmet. My daughter is 8 months old and she got the helmet when she was 6 months old. In fact, they say that in the beginning of January she will be done with it!! I am soooo happy. The orthotist I was working with is awesome and I haven't had one single problem with them. The band fit her great and she never suffered any red marks or anything like that. It also has been sooooo effective since I didn't think she would be done so quickly. Good luck in your decision. Guest guest
Hi Dana, welcome! You are so very, very smart to be doing your homework like this. I also contemplated Cleveland (4 hrs one way) vs. a STARband facility (1 hr.) The closer facility had a great amt of experience and I spoke with a past member who went there so we went with the closer place. But I would've chosen Straight Ahead if that was the only closest option. I have heard very good things. So good luck and grill 'em! You are doing the very best for your child. Let us know how things go. We would love to see your sweetie too. Sue Colin F., 14 mos. Guest guest
Thank you to everyone who responded to my intro. I really appreciate the warm welcome and all your input. Billie --- Thank you for your daughter's email address. I'll get in touch with her soon. We have an appt with in Cleveland on Friday, 12/31. So we'll see how that goes and see how Straight Ahead compares to Hanger. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again & Best Wishes for a Happy Holiday!
