Guest guest
Well, about the worst news (but not THE worst) came back on Scout's throat culture. She has pseudomonas. I am a little numb right now. She has had no mucous, no cough, nothing. I really thought we had more time before I had to deal with this. There apparently are only a few on the culture and it is non-mucoid. The Pulm. is hopeful that we can get a clear throat culture with treatment. (For those of you on CFParents We see the same Pulm./clinic as .) The pulm.'s plan is 4 weeks of TOBI. (Which my HMO will cover.) We can also add two weeks of Cipro. Then nothing for two weeks and then another culture to see if it still cultures. We go in tomorrow at 2 for TOBI training. What do your dr.s think of cipro for children? I read some scary stuff on medscape. Right now I am going to hold off on giving it to Scout until I have more info. and feel better about it. Any thoughts? At what ages have any of you/your children cultured pseudomonas? Did it go away after the initial culture? For how long? Does it showing up on a culture correlate with increased lung problems within a certain time? Thanks in advance.
