Guest guest
Hi my husband was diagnosed with uc 14 years ago and then last year was told he had psc. Now after dropping that bomb shell , he goes into hospital 2 weeks time for a colonoscopy which he had 10 years ago-but i think this time their looking for colon cancer- which i have read is common in people who have had uc for a number of years-i haven't told my worries to my husband, has anybody else had the same experiences and if so what happened- i'm i right. Also i m a little confused the tablets he is taking urso has side effects of diarrhea, the tablets he is taking for uc are to stop that- i'm i right in thinking the two tablets together and interacting together and surely doing more harm- has anyone else any views on this. Guest guest
Hi Hayley I take urso for psc since 2001 and asacol and salofalk for uc since 1998. I have a colonoscopy every 2 years to check for colon cancer. I do know diet plays a big part in the uc and psc-low fat seems to really help but check with your dr about the diarrhea. I always feel reassured by the colonoscopy results(although drinking the Fleet phopho is hell) but also rest assured that colon cancer is curable if caught early and that is why the tests are done. There is a greater risk of colon cancer when a person has uc. I'm sure others will reply to your concern as well.
