Hey, Jim, it's a well known fact that high BGs cause irritability...so you're

forgiven, smile. And if you want to stick around for more than a few days

that's okay too. Vicki

I used a tone in some of my communications last week that I realize now

should have

been avoided. It was too blunt and a bit on the sarcastic side.

I don't use this as an excuse - but I had a bad stomach/intestinal flu all

last week and

my blood sugar jumped at one point to 370. When I get up into the 300s, I

can

get pretty testy and impatient. This was definately the case last week.

Jim,

Hey... everyone gets testy and impatient from time to time. That is a

very high blood sugar... is it lower now? I hope you'll reconsider

unsubscribing.

I hope it's more than a couple of days. Are you doing better on your

BG control this week? It's scary when it shoots up like that, and

that adds to the stress, which can result in a viscious cycle.

Jim,

That was a very gracious apology. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

Many people would have walked away and not looked back. You have the

character to do some self-examination and are willing to act on it. That's

commendable in my book.

Please feel welcome to stay around as long as you would like.

O.K. Jim, here's my 2 cents again. (The last of the " high rollers " .) I'm

certainly not perfect but I am a Christian and I believe in the things that

Jesus taught. He said to let he that is blameless cast the first stone. I'

m in no position to cast any stones or even pebbles. I just want to remind

you that this is a very stressful disease and it takes all of the strength

and courage that we can muster to tackle all of the problems each and every

day. I don't know if you read my post a couple of months ago when one of my

sons said " maybe now you will have something to talk about besides your

health. " That was less than a month after having such a close call from a

blocked artery and surgery. I was very hurt by his remark and then I began

to really give it some thought. This is something that we have to live with

every single day of our lives. It's all day long testing, taking meds,

taking insulin, watching soooo closely what we eat or don't eat, and the

list goes on and on. Just remember that some of us really are not able to

do much and our diabetic family is our main connection to the world. Nobody

else really understands us because in order to survive we must be obsessive.

I've been " stuck here at the house " for the last 3 weeks except for 3 trips

to the doctor. As I'm sure you've already heard, the last trip was a

disaster and my BG's have been out of control from his rude, arrogant

attitude. We all need to stop and think before we say things that are going

to be hurtful. Nobody really wants you to unsubscribe. Just try and take

it a little bit easier with us " old timers " please.

I appreciate your ability to be honest with yourself and us. I for one would

like you to stay and become a strong member. I accept your apology in the

great spirit it was given in.

Hi Jim -

Glad to see you again. Funny thing about last week... when you got all

irritated, you told us some stuff about yourself that you might not have

said if you weren't mad, and you sound like a really interesting person

who just happens to also have Diabetes. I hope you stick around,

because I'd like to hear what you have to say about coping with Diabetes

and how you deal with your illness, and it would be nice to hear more

about the other things you do, too. You can always talk about how

having Diabetes has affected those aspects of your life if it seems

unrelated to the topic ... ;)
