Being a grandma hurts so good!

My damaged knee is killing me. I think it must be twice the size

of the other tonight. Went to my sons tonight. Ran to the store and picked up

Valentines for all the kids, then went back to their house and sat at the table

with them so we could get all their Valentines ready for school. Then we

cleaned up and had dinner.

I held our newborn, LizBeth a lot, jiggled her on that bad knee. After dinner

we sat around a while. The kids all shower on Sunday nights, then come to YaYa

(me) to have their shampooed hair brushed out. Even my 8 yr old grandson has me

brush his. Then sat on the couch for a while and played pictionary with my

daughter in law.

A TOTALLY FUN AWESOME EVENING.

Came home, took pain meds and fell asleep in my chair. Two hours later I woke

up whimpering from pain. Hubby shook me gently and

told me to take some more pain meds. ( I am allowed 2 breakthrough every 5 hours

as needed.

Now? Like I said my right knee is twice the size:(.I forget that I CANNOT have

my leg down that long! It will take me a week of almost total bedrest to

recover. :(

Was it worth it? I think it was! Being with the babies is like taking a magic

elixir.

I can understand all of this It sounds like we are one and the same. I did thank

God all this last week while we had a snow storm  I was with two sets of twin

boys, 11 and 5, another grandson 7.  and  1 teenager girl 15.

Both knees have been replaced but still having pain with other joints. The

children make me laugh.  It is well worth it so when I go home I have to go to

bed  take meds.. until the next time, for I can not do it with out the Lords

help.

I totally agree with you Candy!! I don't care how much I hurt afterward, I am

going to enjoy my grandchildren while they are around!!

I have only one grandchild - a girl, 17 - and enjoy taking her shopping.

Now shopping isn't one of the things I like to do but for her, I will do

it. She likes to go to Goodwill as she can get more clothes for her money, but

my knees and lower legs and feet really start aching with all of the walking

around. I get a cart to lean on (and to hold what she picks out).

I don't mind the pain quite as much since I am with her. Gotta love her!

She has a snarky sense of humor just like her momma and me. She's a big

help to my daughter who has even more health issue than I do. Plus, she is

agoraphobic and very leaves their apartment. she has a fear of heights and

needs my sweet son in law to work down the stairs backwards in front of her.

She does go to a support group every week that we both belong to and is slowing

getting better - we both are.

Hi Christie

Your granddaughter sounds like a good kid. If you ask for a chair at a place

like Goodwill surely they will provide you with one when you need a break.

I  know my 15 year old grandaughter  when I take her shopping i would stay in

the store leaning on the cart and trying not to sweat from the pain smiling

through it all yes it is worth it to see her happy  these are precious moments

for me. I love her so we grandmothers do our best  Thank God for strength. have

a good day.

Thanks, Kaylene,

She really is a good kid. She has a great head on her shoulders. Her mom

has been sick for much of her life and she is used to helping her. She

cooks (experiment actually) and cleans (but maybe not as often as Mom would

like but she does clean) and do the laundry. She has a plan - she wants to

go to college and become a doctor that helps children. She is working

towards a scholarship.
