Alice and all

Some other ideas might be computer made note cards or stationary.

We could really make our mark at the conference with the talents of the group and be able to donate to UMDF. Even if you don't think you can attend the conference, your contribution can be sent to someone driving there.

Let's see what wonderful ideas we can come up and how many items we can get for this.

Great idea. I printed this out and will keep it where I will hopefully look at it everyday. Not sure what I will do--I dabble in a few things--ceramics and crocheting but have not done either for about a year.

I know how fast time goes. It has been a year since we tore up the carpet in our kitchen and I started redoing the floor and cabinets. Hopefully this next week it and allthe problems we had it will be done.

Then I can start on the next problem and cleanup the next room of the house--one room at a time.

This sounds wonderful and exactly the type of response I was hoping for. You can determine for yourself what you would like to contribute, but I am going to look forward to seeing your photographs and maybe I'll even win one.

Thank you so much for the offer to participate.

I am glad that you will contribute to the auction and very glad your project in your kitchen is almost finished. The worse rooms to have torn up are the kitchen and bathroom in my opinion.

I know what you mean about one room at a time.

Thanks for your comments. I am glad it is all coming to a close for that room. Actually, the upstairs bathroom is still torn up because the whirlpool tub is not going in as planned--the floorboards are going the wrong way so a support had to be made and now the Kohler faucets we cannot find plumbing to extend it to the water area without spending like $30 per faucet and there are 5 connection points--that is just the special order hardware, not the labor. I think we will be using our old fashioned claw foot tub for a while yet. The Kohler employee sale comes up the end of September again so I guess we will be there shopping. The other tub is not bad but it is hard to get into and the shower head is a makeshift one on the end of a pipe the previous owner put in.

Oh well, I slept until 3 pm today. My girlfriend called at 12:00 am from up by her dads house that they are getting ready to sell. The only phone calls we ever got at that hour of the night was when someone was sick or died. Anyhow, I did answer the phone because I had just laid down from my work in the kitchen. She was on her cell phone (speaker phone). I talked to her until she pulled into her driveway 2 1/2 hours later. Ironically, she had gotten my message that I left on her cell phone about that we could not come to a birthday party today because I was sanding on the kitchen floor some high spots. She had left her husband at the house sanding the hardwood floors with the sander he had rented for the weekend. If he calls her tonight before he leaves she will have him stop by on his way home. If he comes past our house it is about 1/2 hour out of the way for him on a 3 hour ride. Then my husband and him could sand the floor. If he got the message, I am expecting him between now and midnight.

Well, we may have a cash buyer for part of our vending business so I need to find all my old files and get all the income for the last 2 years for each of the 150 machines into a decent spreadsheet--about a 40 hour job.

So, talk to you all later.

Janet

Alice - I had replied to this yesterday, but for some reason it

didn't go through.

I can't do much in the way of making things any more (hands are too

awful), but would love to maybe do one or more " stretching clinics "

or something like that at the conference. We could charge a nominal

admission - say a couple of dollars - I'm thinking offer a couple of

different types - break it up by " ability " or something - example -

wheelchair bound versus independent etc.

The trick would be finding a place to do it that wouldn't cost

anything. This type of thing is done all the time at our professional

meetings - they have them before or after the sessions so there is no

additional room cost. Or, some hotels have " mezzanines " where you can

schedule an event like that and there is no charge (if your group is

using a whole lotta space and hotel rooms that is!)

Anyway, what do you think?

I think this is a wonderful idea but we would have to pass this by the UMDF

because there would be a liability issue here. Let me forward the idea to them

Anne,

Wow!!! I know you didn't ask me and I am not familar with the set up at these conventions but I still say WOW. What a wonderful idea. This is just another way to use your talents to benefit those around you. Being Artsy and crafty is not the only creative gift to offer. I think this is really good. I just joined the group but if it's the way I think this support group works. I want to offer my support to your idea.
