Hi all, seems to be alot of anxiety on line and I would like to

remind all you parents how great you are doing and apply a little

help if I can.

1) " W " sitting~~ remember how difficult it was to teach the tyke to

move legs together? Just as hard to break this habit. There is really

no danger if the child is getting full range of motion most of the

time. permenant " W " sitting could yes be deforming but the hip

" Ball/Socket " form by range of motion. Did you know the highest

incidence of hip displasia is probably the papoosed babies? I also

think it is not good to " swaddle " babies as it tends to disform the

joint. When we have a baby with dislocated hips there are more

precautions, and typically the hips in CF are treated as

priority, anyway the baby would be in a pavlik harness with hips at

90-100 degrees flexion and knees at 90 and internal/external rotation

of the hip is also adjusted for maximum developement. If your kids

were not defined as DDH I would not be to worried unless your doc

tells you otherwise. TMI

2)Shanna, if you give me a shoe size I would be glad to send a

Plastizote that you can have Rubber glued in.I seem to re-call 1 as

opposed to 7.

3)I love the outrageous stories I hear from some of the parents

re:judgemental eyes. Are people judgemental due to ignorance or do

they feel better about themselves if their feelings are made known???

You parents hold the power and you have the upper hand on how you

wish to use it...Educate or Vindicate?

You are all great parents advocating for your little love...

DON'T FORGET THAT!
