Guest guest
Yes, I did submit a claim and got 80% of the cost covered as per my extended medical plan. Where are you located? There were no problems, I had to submit a letter from the neuro (essentially stating that the band was perscribed) and the receipt for the band(I had to pay in full and get re-imbursed - total cost for our local helmet was $1350 CDN). On the receipt it had to specifically state that it was a plagiocephaly helmet made from plaster casts, it was orthopedic grade thermoplastic and custom made and custom fitted. I did call them beforehand, and they had to look to see if it was covered (they called it a DOC band even though it was a local helmet). If you have any problems please e-mail me, I have all my paperwork that I used to get the claim covered. , mom to Ethan Local Helmet Grad, Dec 2003 Vancouver, BC > > Just wondering how the claims process went/is going with Sun Life for > a helmet. Guest guest
, Thank you so much for your reply. That's reassuring news. I got nervous when I started surfing the net and there were loads of insurance horror stories, presumably with U.S. insurance companies. I am still waiting for a reply from Sun Life on the pre-determination wherein I enclosed a letter from the physiotherapist at BC Children's Hospital (we also live in Vancouver). As I want to get my son in the helmet as soon as possible, I'm going to go ahead with my appointment on Jan 3rd. I just hope that Sun Life will come back with a " good " reply. I will let you know how it goes. Stella > > > > Just wondering how the claims process went/is going with Sun Life > for > > a helmet.
