Guest guest
Hello everyone. My twin boys are 16 months and we are batteling UHC. when does research say a DOC band will no longer get correction? i know every child is different but i was wondering what the research says. our nurse practioner just told me research says 12 months, i thought it was longer around 18 to 20 months. im afraid they are going to deny our appeal saying its too late. thanks for your help. Guest guest
Check this out. It is the Cranial Tech research that shows correction can be achieved up to 24 mos of age. 16 mos isn't as good as 6 mos, but you still have some time left. My son got a DOC Band at 17 1/2 mos and got really great correction. I don't know the rules, but if you are already fighting insurance, can you just pay out of pocket now on a credit card and get the money back later? You are running out of time and if they keep stringing you along for another couple of months you will lose any chance at correction. I paid on a credit card for my son's band (it was horrible, and it's just sitting there accruing interest, plus it was only one baby, but I thought it was worth it) and I am still fighting insurance. I am pretty sure I will win--I can't lose really because my son looks sooo much better and we don't have to travel any more! Good luck. Check out the link below, or cut and paste it into your browser. It is also under the " Links " section of this site, down at the end of the list (Treatment of the Older Infant). http://www.aans.org/education/journal/neurosurgical/sep00/9-3-5.pdf , 22 mos, DOC Grad 9/7 > > Hello everyone. > My twin boys are 16 months and we are batteling UHC. when does > research say a DOC band will no longer get correction? i know every > child is different but i was wondering what the research says. our > nurse practioner just told me research says 12 months, i thought it > was longer around 18 to 20 months. im afraid they are going to deny > our appeal saying its too late. thanks for your help. Guest guest
I would take this research info and contact your hr insurance advocate. Tell them time is of the essence. In fact every day at this point counts. Have them or you contact UHC and tell them you will hold them personally responsible if your children miss the window of opportunity for correction. It's time to get aggressive. Don't abck down. Keep calling UHC, try to get as far up the ladder as possible. You at least want a denial so you can go ahead with treatment and then appeal. 16 months is not too late but depending on severity they need to be in bands now! mom to na DOC Grad SC PS you can email me off line for insurance help. I didn't have UHC but I did have to appeal. --- In Plagiocephaly , " tortibaby " <sugrill@j...> wrote: > > Check this out.
