hi kat,

the first time was easy! I had no pain. the only discomfort was

when I got a stuffy nose and I couldn't breath easily through my

mouth or my nose. also, I remember the weird sensation of not having

my mouth open to sneeze or yawn. but I really never had any pain.

oh, yeah... I did vomit in the recovery room with my mouth wired

shut. I remember a nurse running over and suctioning out

the " stuff. " but I've had anesthesia since... and with the new meds,

I don't get sick anymore.

the first surgery was upper only. I also had a splint and was wired

shut for 6 weeks (I think but I'm not sure of the time period). this

time will be both upper & lower... and I'm confident that my jaws

will cooperate this time. I hope I didn't scare you with my relapse

problem. I just thought it would be a valid question for your

surgeon. my relapse occurred over a period of years (my first

surgery was done in 1985). so, I know for a fact that relapse can

occur in some people.

good luck to you! and keep me posted! " dj " (ms_abbynormal)
