Guest guest
Hi all, I'm 3 full days post op. On Tues, the dr. reduced my vertical excess, moved mouth in, advanced my chinbone 6mm and removed the chin implant which I got put in 2 years ago and did not work out. I shouldn't have let the plastic surgeon talk me into a chin implant when in fact I had a misaligned jaws! That's water under the bridge so at least the implant is now gone (thank goodness!). Was very groggy after the surgery in recovery. Dr. said the surgery went well. No nausea or sickness although the nurses give you those paper containers (like fish & chip containers you get down at the beach) just in case but did not need them at all. I used them to put my used gause, etc, in as a garbage can. Surgery day Tuesday: My throat was sore, conjected and the stitches kept oozing for quite awhile so I went through lots of gauze. Pain killers worked wonders. After feeling more awake, had a can of Ensure and 2 glasses of ginger ale to satisfy my appetite and rested. Day 1: Rested and iced my face. Swelling increasing as I feel the bandages are feeling much tighter. Still more oozing, sore throat and conjection. Feel claustrophobic since I cannot open my mouth and all the oozing drove me crazy. Had more juice, Ensure and soups through a syringe. Rested. Day 2: Rested at home and iced my face. Swelling increased. Hubbie made me homemade chicken soup which he put through a food processor so I can use my syringe. He commented that I look like Jeff Goldbloom in that '80 sci-fi movie The Fly when I have my soup! Had 3 bowls of soup since I was hungry but it took me at least 2 hours to eat it! Back, neck, etc. sore from laying in bed too long. Day 3 (today): Swelling is peaking as my face looks like a Goodyear blimp! My lips are sooo stiff. Must keep a stiff upper lip (and bottom one too) ha, ha, ha! It looks like I got punched in the eyes too and got a nose job to make it bigger. The bandages feel real tight. Hope my eyes and nose returns to its orignal state. Continue to eat and drink as much as possible. Guess I'm lucky that I don't get nausea or sick from general anesthetic and can take alot of pain so I can regain my strength fairly quickly by eating and drinking as soon as possible. Despite the oozing, conjection, etc, I feel better post-operatively than pre- operatively. I was miserable after getting cancelled last May. Today, I feel more strength but I'm not ready to run a marathon. Looking forward in seeing my new straight profile once the swelling goes down. Tell you the truth, my profile looks less protrusive now despite the swelling compared to my before that's posted on this site! Good luck in your recovery.
