Does it matter now what you should or shouldn't have done? You can't very well go back and have a do-over, so I think the main thing is, what are you going to do now? I also wanted to add that she isn't going to like or give you permission to deal with your own issues and get healthier. She will do whatever she thinks is necessary to prevent your perceived abandonment of her--whether that's make accusations, interrogate, rage, lay on the guilt, or whatever. Your job is to take care of yourself and how uncomfortable it is for you to see her so uncomfortable. Your job isn't to make her more comfortable. They are her feelings to take care of.
