We have a poll going on that very subject (optimal dose), so if

anyone out there has not done the poll, you can go to that very

folder!!

That will vary among everyone, I bet. Mine is a high 80, probably

due to my MVP. Sigh.

Mine hovers around 70 to 72... If I'm up and about and active it will

shoot to about 110.. and within 15 or 20 minutes of rest it's right down

to that 70 - 72.. that is also my waking pulse....

Did I read somewhere or am I hallucinating again that a normal pulse should be

in the seventies or low eighties? This 50 to 60 stuff is not good. Deborah

If you are physically fit, your heartrate will be that low, and

lower in some males. The heart is a muscle. The more you exercise

is, the stronger it gets, so the less it needs to beat to get the

same amount of blood flowing through the body. (I used to be an

aerobic instructor).

But if you are not physically fit, a heartrate that low is

indicative of hypo, I would think.

It's my understanding that....

A top end athlete, in prime condition with a strong heart can have a 60

heart rate at rest and be healthy.. but the 'average' person without an

active lifestyle.. should be in the 70's... below that is low

metabolism... above that is heart stress...

Can't quote references on that... It's just what I've followed since

getting into body building in '82...

Thanks Topper, when I was Hypo my pulse held at 60, not that my Endo

knew because he never took my pulse, or my temperature, or my blood

pressure in the whole time I was hypo after they chopped my thyroid

out. Silly huh? It took a young fitness instructor at my gym who was

inducting me when I joined to check me over, & to point out there was

a problem. Hmmmm, the irony!!
