I just couldn't resist an additional commentary..... the current President of the ACOG, who is from Duke University in North Carolina, is indeed one of these not-over-my-dead-body gyns who refuses to refer women with fibroids for UFE....except, that is, in the case of the extremely obese or HIV/AIDS patient....who, it would seem, he prefers to pass along to an IR for the " horrible " treatment option of UFE rather than treat them himself via hyst surgery...quite the pacesetter he is for the entire college of ob/gyns in this nation....don't you think? I also find it a bit ironic that the gyn department at Duke is pretty dead set against UFE....and yet it is Duke that is administering/overseeing the Fibroid Registry for UFE....different department, of course..... carla
