Guest guest
Hi , I had to reply. My son Mark, 13, has had the FMs for a few years now. I was questioned on whether to hold him back in fifth grade or send him to the middle school. I decided to send him on as he has an early birthday. I kind of wish I would have left him back on one hand; he is mainstreamed for science, social studies. He is in special classes for reading, spelling, English. We are kind of in between a rock and hard place, as he is acing those special classes, no homework, etc. but the teachers tell me he cannot move ahead as the " regular " classes would be too hard as he is reading on about a fifth grade level in seventh grade. He was not diagnosed until age 5, so he missed alot. I have written to this site before; Mark conveniently " lost " his mic last year and I was not informed; this year I really keep on top of things. He has the little boot that goes on the aid which is much better than the antenna and " lunch box " he was carrying around. He has a really hard time making friends and does not have alot; I blame this on him not getting mainstreamed with the other children. I don't know if this helps or not, just some input.
