Guest guest
Hey all, A quick intro, although some of you might have seen my post about making yogurt with a heating pad (which made SUCH a mess, by the way - I broke down and bought a yogurt maker). I started the SCD yesterday after tapering down my starches and got the book today in the mail. I'm on day two of the Introductory diet, and so far I'm eating mostly chicken soup, carrots and apple juice, with some applesauce and peeled tomatoes, which don't bother me. So far, no significant changes, but I'm not expecting any right away. I've lived with Crohn's/UC (I've had both diagnoses) for 22 years, so I'm not expecting any immediate miracles, but I have high hopes. A couple of questions: First (and I know this is gross) but my stools are now carrot-orange. Is this a problem? I know it's normal based on the fact that I'm eating mostly carrots but does that signify that it's not being absorbed? How do I know if a food is absorbed or not in my system, if it's coming out the other end? Second, my acupuncturist has given me a herbal remedy with a bunch of chinese medicinal herbs, of which I recognize absolutely zero (or maybe one). Is there any way I can find out which of these are or are not SCD legal? I've looked on the legal/illegal list and can't find anything. I assume that most of these are okay, but I have no idea. Any thoughts? Thanks for posting, it's generally entertaining to read everyone's posts! And it's wonderful to know that there are people who understand the realities of living with chronic diarrhea, etc. Also, any ideas for Intro/Stage 1 recipes? Or other foods that are easily tolerated? Like green beans, zucchini, etc. It's a bit boring at this point... Thanks so much! Leah 22 years CD/UC 2 days SCD!
