Sorry Jon, but the NF doctors I have used are the obvious ones at House

(Brackmann, Hitz, & Day).

Oh, I do see a Dr. Kathy Gardner at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. She

is a neurologist and I see her at a NF clinic there.

I would think my neuro-opthamalogist would be great to add to a list. He is

Dr. Misha Pless and is quite familiar with NF. He is at the University of

Pittsburgh.

Dr Terry Hood of Minneapolis Neurological Surgeons. he has done both

Steriostatic radio surgery and Scalpel (Brain and Spine) on me. he is VERY

VERY good.

Trying to put together a list of doctors who have treated NF2. Please

send me the name of your treating physician, hospital and city and

state and his/her specialty....surgery, gamma or fsr. Please don't

send me the obvious ones such as the doctors affiliated with House

Ear Institute, , Lederman or Noren. Thanks for your

cooperation.

Dr. Jack Maniscalco, Tampa, FL

he is a neurosurgeon, does not specialize in nf2, but has operated on me 5

times since 1984 and like nathan, I owe him my life. have had nooooo, nada,

zero complications from any surgeries and minimal loss, just the deafness

which was a given. I'd recommend him for spinal or brain surgery any day. if he

felt he cudnt do it he'd be the 1st to tell you. ive been told he is one of fl

tippy top neuro surgeons.

Dr. Bruce Mickey at UT Southwestern in Dallas. He is

Jim's neurosurgeon is Dr. Lucy Love, Tampa,FL USF Harborside Medical

Towers/Tampa General Hosp.

She studied at Shand's Hospital in Gainesville, FL. She does specialize in

NF2, and is willing to explore whatever we present to her. The more

knowledge we have and are able to present to her; the more willing she is to

" hook us up " with co-workers in their area of expertise. She doesn't do

gamma-knife herself, but has an associate who she will recommend. Her

bedside manner is a little rough until you let her know what you want. She

is very devoted to her family and understanding this as many children as she

sees suffering from neurological disorders helps you to understand her very

sober facial expression.

Faith, Hope, & Love,

Anne

I totally agree. My son Jordan had Dr Delashaw & Dr. McMenomey for his

surgery in January. They got the AN and his hearing was saved. Jordan now

is in Mexico at the Monterey Clinic & will be there for 3 weeks. They are

treating all his tumors with a special machine that I cannot remember the

name of. A couple of Drs. from the Mayo Clinic met Jordan there. So far,

Jordan tells me the pressure in his head is gone & he can lift the fingers

in his hand, which he hasn't been able to do for a very long time. He has

MRI's scheduled for next week so we'll see if it has done any good.
