Guest guest
Janna, Hi. I just posted a photo to Ian S. folder which shows a frontal view of Ian's head shape. I will try and get a side view shortly to post as well. thanks for your interest. Re: Head Size/Forehead Shape Concern , do you have pictures posted? I would like to see. My son's over all body is big along with head circ. but he has some major bossing which he was born with. I never thought about that affecting the circumfrence. Interestingly when we had our x-ray to get our helmet prescription, a large bit of that bulge was actually fat. That leads me to think that it will flatten as he gets older. I would sure like to see photos though to see if we are going through the same thing. Best to you!JannaMom to KellanSt. Louis, Local Helmet> > We've been out of helmet for 2 months now. Guest guest
Hi Sue. thanks for the info. on the poll section. i had not gone there before. very interesting. Thanks! Re: Head Size/Forehead Shape Concern Hi ...awww he's so handsome! I don't think his "bossing" looks unusual at all. Yes, a larger head is a common theme in plagio babies. That, and answers to other questions can be found in our "Polls" section (click at left.)SueColin F. 14 mos.STARband grad> > We've been out of helmet for 2 months now. Guest guest
Hi Janna. Well, we had our ultrasound today and although we haven't gotten the results back, the xray tech seems to think it looked pretty clear. Anyway, thanks again for all of your advice. I've posted a side view photo of Ian (Ian s. folder) although it doesn't seem to capture a true profile. Perhaps it's me that I see the forehead bossing more than is really there. It's just that at 4 months I didn't seem to catch the plagio, so I'm a bit sensitive to missing anything that may be obvious to others. Again, thanks!! Re: Head Size/Forehead Shape Concern I looked at your picture. I will be looking for the side view too. Our son's head slopes and yours looks longer but the bossing is very familiar! Our cranial facial specialist had told us that some babies just have very prominent foreheads. He didn't seem concerned at all. Actually we have had people comment on his prominent brow so I know I wasn't imagining it. Did you get an x-ray? Is there any possibility that a fat deposit contributes? My dad swears I looked the same as a baby! Your son is really beautiful and I want to reassure you because I was so worried about the bossing too at one time! I was constantly looking info up and asking questions. I think it is just the babies feature right now. I don't think that head size and plagio relate. I also understand that once the plagio is addressed that the helmet keeps the forehead in check while the back of the head fills out. Then, there is no force pressing the brow to boss any further. Now it should grow uniformly. Also, I think the adult head really does elongate and that the child's face is going to change as he ages. I imagine your son was born with a prominent brow as ours was. I have a feeling that in time we will wonder why we worried so much but it sure can be a struggle now!Best wishes and please let us know what happens with the ultrasound.
