Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. Sorry I'm a bit late with the referral help. Hopefully someone chimed in with one of the following: cranialfacial surgeon, plastic surgeon, neurosurgeon (pediatric specialists being best). I know how hard repo can be. It sounds like you son has some neck involvement if he prefers to look one way all the time. This is not uncommon in plagio kids. In fact it usually contributes to the flatness and makes it near impossible to repo. There are some strengthening and streching exercises you can do to help him gain full range of motion. It's most likely a tight/weak neck muscle. At his age tummy time is key. He should be spending 5-10 minutes of every hour he is awake (if not more) on his tummy. If he isn't you can work up to it slowly - start with 30 seconds to 1 minute. Here is a link to some tips. Torticollis Stretching.doc Let us know how the appointment went. Where are you located? There may be someone in your area who can help with drs or orthos (if it comes to a helmet or band). mom to na DOC Grad SCgreengirl0904 <greengirl0904@...> wrote: Hi.I am new to this site. My son has a flat spot on the back right side of his head. It is really noticeable when you look at him from the top of his head. He is always laying on that one side. I have tried everything they tell you to do to reposition him. It seems like it is not getting any better. I am going to see his ped today for his 4 mth checkup and I am going to point this out to her. What kind of doctor do I need to ask to get referred to? Please advise. Thanks,For more plagio info
Guest guest
Hi, . We just went straight to Cranial Tech for evaluation and then got the pediatritian to write the perscription for the band. This was with our second pediatritian, our first kept ignoring my concerns about the shape of my daughter's head. She is now in a DOC band and has been for almost 2 weeks and she is doing great. We got her banded at 6 months due to the delay in getting the eval because of the first ped. Hope all goes well for you! We too tried repositioning first and got some results, but not enough.
