Hi everyone !

We're just back from our trip for the fitting and Baptiste has a

beautiful helmet, blue with little stars, planets, rockets… He's my

little astronaut !

To make a long story short, let's say that he's adjusting to it

pretty well : he cries when he sees it, throws it away when he can,

cries when he has to put it on, but then strangely enough, he seems

to forget that he has something funny on his head and carries on just

as usual…. It's all for the best anyway.

Those four days were exhausting, not so much because of the fitting

which went quite well (except the long waiting hours) but because

Baptiste was so disturbed by not being home that he could hardly

sleep at night, then he got a big cold with high fever at night, so

these were tiresome days.

But anyway I'm so glad we finally did it that it doesn't matter

anymore now that it's over. We'll see how Baptiste gets on with it

over the next few weeks…

All the parents I met were in the same situation as me : nobody had

warned them about plagio and it's only through personal research that

they learned about the helmet. It's quite infuriating that it's up to

us parents to find solutions on our own that doctors should be giving

us, I mean it's their job ! Anyway, it's no time and no use to be

angry, so I'll just thank you all for the information and support I

got through this group, it's really great.

Hi, Thanks for the update on Baptiste. Sounds like he's adjusting

well overall. Lots of parents feel like you as far as being angry

over having to learn about helmets all on your own. Try channeling

your anger into helping to educate others about plagio. In our

files section you can see some handouts parents created (my daughter

Hannah's included) to hand out to others. Whle your son is in his

band is the best time to do this because you'll get the most

questions about it. You can distribute them to anywhere you think

there might be a big population of babies, parents, or moms to be,

as well as pediatric offices, maternity sections of hospitals, etc.

Please keep us posted on his progress.

Glad that you survived the fitting and all the travel. I would love

to see a photo of Baptiste in his helmet!
