Guest guest
Last week, I was, for a change, actually comfortable in bed. But, I forgot my sleeping socks. I have to wear socks to sleep or I wake up with a scratchy throat, regardless of how warm it is. Feet must be covered! However, because I can rarely get comfy in my cocoon of 1001 pillows propping up every painful body part, I just said, " Phooey! " And rationalized, how silly it is to believe that no socks can make a person ill, and it was just not worth it to get up and get the socks and then risk another sleepless night. Yeah, well. I woke up with a scratchy sore throat. Grumble. That was last Monday. With the crazy heat wave in the 100's here in California, I have been overheated again and again, and it's just not conducive. And then, going from an air conditioned office out into super heated world doesn't help either. Every business you go into is blasting Alaska weather, and then outside into the desert. Back and forth, back and forth. Gradually onsetting over the past week, until now, today I woke all achy. Every muscle aching and in spasm. My nose is running like a faucet, my head hurts from sniffling and blowing my nose. My eyes are puffy and itchy and red. I am having fever and chills, and today a cough has joined the party. But oddly, I have absolutely no phlegm. Just normal saliva, etc. To try to treat myself, because until I do something or until this goes away I'm stuck with the suffering through it, I just started taking herbal anti-bacterial/anti-virals today. That should knock things down within a week or two, but eh, it would probably knock itself off in a week or two. So, just taking the herbals for good measure, to make sure nothing progresses further. The back of my throat is not red, again oddly. So, I haven't bothered going to the doc. I don't think they'd say much. There is no colorful phlegm for them to investigate, nothing for them to look at. Although, they may be able to catch a fever on the thermometer, not much else to go on. The shivers and chills, and aches and pains are all them taking me at my word. I have no proof. Finally, I had to break down and take some anti-histamines and pseudoephedrine last night. I hate to take that stuff at night, because it keeps me wide awake and tossing all night, but I just couldn't take the sneezing, and runny nose. Note: Not that the meds helped all that much. I even used that steriod nose spray thing. Note: Another useless product. Sad they had to go and take the herb ephedra off the market (thanks to the bathtub drug makers). Ephedra would have cleared all this up like magic. Anyhow, nothing I have done has helped. Then, since last Monday, a whole week noe, every night I have been having strong/bad, painful cramps in the arches of my feet, and only the arches. My legs and my toes are fine. Just the arches. My feet do this curl up thing then eek eek pain. I try to stand and stretch and walk a little, and massage, and put some eucalyptus cream on them to maybe heat them up (like I read to do on the internet). I tried the heating pad - yes in the 100 degree heat! Grumble. But, nothing is ending these cramps. I'd blame the heat messing with my electrolytes, except that it wasn't so crazy hot until the end of last week. So, while I probably am dehydrated today, and now, especially after high heat yesterday, I can't blame dehydration for the rest of the days, either. I eat a banana every morning (for potassium, and magnesium), and I take calcium with magnesium, so I think the electrolytes should be in order. Does anyone, pretty please, pretty pretty please have some miracle cure for foot arch spasms? Maybe I should hard soles wear shoes to sleep? (I'm not even sure that would help, but it might stop my feet from curling). Any ideas? On any of it? Jade
