Hi ,

Welcome to the group. Shifting in bands is very common as the band

is made to a rounded version of your daughter's head. This means

the flat areas don't really make contact with the helmet until they

round out some, so it will seem to fit better as her head rounds.

My daughter had a severe case and you can really see what I mean

about the shifting in this pic:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v39/hannahsmom/gap.jpg . Her band

basically kind of teetered between her bulging back left side and

bossing forehead on the right side. I think you notice more in

younger babies too b/c they're still laying down more, which makes

the band shift more. Even though she's a tummy sleeper, her facial

assymetry should still benefit. The reason for the assymetry is as

the back of the head gets pushed in, the face does as well, so as

the head goes back into allignment, the face will follow. The red

spot she's getting is okay as long as it fades within an hour.

Anything taking longer than that to fade can lead to skin irritation

and further problems. Just be sure to watch it closely. Feel free

to ask any questions you have, thats what we're here for!

Hi ,

Welcome to the group! I see that already gave you an

excellent reply. If you have more questions please ask away. Where

are you located and where are you receiving treatment?

I am from Texas and we are getting treatment from Hanger Orthotics.

Does your baby tummy sleep? I do have another concern that appeared

today as she tried to take a nap. Like I mentioned earlier her

helmet shifts.....well today she was really scooting around in her

crib before she was trying to fall asleep(she was restless) and her

helmet shifted to partially cover her eye. Did you ever experience

the same thing? What did you do? I think that it is going to be

difficult for her to sleep in it until she fills it out more and the

shifting won't occur. But I realize that it helps faster the longer

she wears it, but I don't know what to do. I would like input on

what other parents have done in this same situation.

thanks again for any input......

That picture looks exactly like Kennedy's band after today's adjustment! I had been a little curious about the shifting too. Thanks!
