Guest guest
I am sorry I have not been on this board for so long. I tend to be more a reader than a poster but I have a concern. Our son has been in his band for brachy since mid-October. We are getting some reasonable growth lengthwise with the width holding but still not so much rounding in the flat area. Does that come last of all? They originally told us that he could be in the band until Feb. That did seem long but now it seems short. I don't want this to end without the rounding! Anybody know? he is six an a half months old now. Janna Mom to Kellan St. Louis, Local Helmet
Guest guest
Hi Janna, The brachy shape is the hardest to correct and does take longer to see results. You can't push back in the width, so you're really just holding that from gaining more width and waiting for the rest of the head to grow and catch up. The fact that he's gaining length and holding width is excellent. That flatness is often the last part to " pop out " and you should notice change soon. Have you been taking pictures? If you're not satisfied with his headshape in February, you should just tell them that you want to keep going. If his head shape has really changed or he has grown too much, they may need to make him a new band, but giving you a set amount of months at the beginnig of treatment should not gauge how long a baby is banded for. You should base your decision solely on whether or not you're happy with his head. Plus, he's plenty young enough to see some great additional correction. Guest guest
Hi Janna, I think it all depends on the baby. has his band for brachy too. We are happy with the the rounding, but not happy with the width holding. I don't think it is holding it much. So I guess since each band is different for each child it all depends. Good luck. Guest guest
That's tough to say but at his young age you should have seen some improvement in at least 4 wks time. I took pictures every 4 wks and it REALLY helped me to see the improvement. I have pics under Colin F. in the reg. section and in B & A/STARband. Every child is different though and brachy does take a bit longer to correct. Hang in there and do not stop therapy until YOU are happy with his headshape. Keep growing Kellan! :-) Sue Colin F., 14 mos. STARband grad > > I am sorry I have not been on this board for so long. I tend to be > more a reader than a poster but I have a concern. Guest guest
It is different for every baby. My daughter was high moderate to severe plagio/brachy. She has some comparisons in the before and afters. it is under STARband and then Jenna. Please keep us posted.
