Guest guest
I am so sorry! All I can say is what has been said to me so many times since I've learned about ASD with my own son. " Follow your gut " or your instincts..... I don't think your concern is out of line. Something needs to be addressed in a different way here. His hair clumps and signs of stress shouldn't be ignored. Can you get an advocate that can speak for you more calmly or something? I wasn't sure from your post when you spoke about being hormonal if maybe you are pregnant or something like that. I think you need to be seen as serious about this so they will re-evaluate their side of things. Sorry, I don't know if that is helpful or not. Your love for your son is dear to my heart. Guest guest
~ I am so sorry you are having such a hard time with the school. I teach 1st and 2nd graders with severe autism this school year, and I have had to " agrue " with the educational team on a few occations that the way they are treating the parents of the kids in our class unfairly. We have a 1st grader in our class that is 100lbs and stands to my shoulder ( i am 5'6 ) He is non -verbal but very bright. Unfortunatley he uses his size to intimidate the staff and is violent. I can't tell you how many large bruises I get a week.( currently I have four) They blame all his behaviors on his mother. They think she doesn't put her foot down enough. I can tell you that when I " put my foot down " and insist he participates in his academics, that is when I get a lot of violent outbursts. Being a parent of 2 boys with autism, I feel for the woman I am sure she is overwelmed and intimidated by his violence, I know I certainly am. Guest guest
Back to the drawing board again, eh ? I'm glad to hear that someone is finally seeing the light and realizing that you know what you're talking about! Will this teacher be involved in the eval? I hope so! It drives me nuts. 's social worker and teacher called me today to talk about my concern that every single day for a month, I have been getting notes that state " had some difficult moments today " " was defient today " " didn't want to participate or clean up today " . I wanted to know what was going on, we didn't have problems like this last year. Recently has been losing his hair and getting hives again. " Terrible two's " Ok I know my child has a developmental delay but I don't even believe in the terrible two's, never mind the fact that he's 4. I know he's excerting his independence but give me a break here, it's only there and with that particular teacher he's having issues with. Home, he's just and last I remember even the developmental ped put his behavior above a 2 year old level. The whole coverstion left me thinking , they think I'm just a hormonal mess and over reacting. HELLO, is it your child that has now lost two huge clumps of his hair on his head because of stress. Is it your child that has hives on a daily basis, or who's tongue is so raw from the geographic tounge that it hurts him to eat. Oh well, what the hell do i know. I'm just the hormonal mess that loves him with everything I have. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
, Can you observe his class from outside the room? I know this will be hard with the new baby and all, but it sounds like it's time to see what's so upsetting to him. Or maybe you have someone you trust who understands the situation enough to watch? By the way, the minute they start using defiant I start to get worried. BTDT, had to change schools. By the way, other than the extreme stress of the moment, How Are YOU and the baby doing? Sounds like this other kid probably looks the same. Jacquie
Guest guest
Yeah, but Jacquie, your first grader isn't the run of the mill size first grader, either. I mean, look at his dad's size!
