Importing Thyroid Hormone

Just posted a lot of information from the FDA website to the Natural Thyroid

Hormone list.

This part may be helpful:

" In deciding whether to exercise discretion to allow personal shipments of

drugs or devices, FDA personnel may consider a more permissive policy in the

following situations:

1. when the intended use is appropriately identified, such use is not for

treatment of a serious condition, and the product is not known to represent

a significant health risk;

or

2d) the individual seeking to import the

product affirms in writing that it is for the patient's own use (generally

not more than 3 month supply)and provides the name and address of the doctor

licensed in the U.S. responsible for his or her treatment with the product "

(if you have a doctor.)

I have read everything on the site and more and it is really difficult to

tell exactly what the law is.

Seems to be left up to the individual FDA or customs officer.

In general it seems that you are allowed to import an FDA approved non

controlled drug for personal use not more than three months supply however

that is implied rather than stated.

Please let me know how it goes and what you decide to do.

Thank you SO much for all of that, Bev. I am going to keep reading

through it, but so far I'm not sure I have anything concrete to stand

on. I don't want to cause any more problems for myself... but I also

don't want to be out $50+ and without medicine.
