Lots of times it is a hypoglycemic thing, even if I have eaten protein in the evening. Also, I take melatonin, and a valerian, passionflower, 5HTP supplement l-Glutamine is something you may want to check out, it helps the brain and keeps the blood sugar steady I believe. Guest guest
Some women go to bed with a variety of men, but not me! I go to bed with a variety of cheese..so that when I cannot sleep due to hypoglycemic surges...I can reach for my bedside plate and snack on my mate! I Oh, and I like mine semi hard...Cheddar, Airedale, Beaufort, Cheshire, Orla, and String, -- I admit, I have slept with them all! Ahhhhh....and afterwards I can sleep like a baby! Guest guest
I'd lose the oxide form, that's the least absorbable form. Look for magnesium citrate or magnesium glycinate. That's a low dose of mag also. I would highly recommend trying the Natural Calm before bedtime. It's the citrate in a powdered form and you mix it with hot water and drink like a tea. You start out with a 1 1/2 tsps for a couple of days, then go to 2 tsps for a couple and then to 3 tsps. You may find that this is all the magnesium you need. It's estimated that 80% of the U.S. is deficient in magnesium. Linn > > > > > > How much magnesium? K> I have been having great success mixing 1/4-1/2 tsp celtic sea salt in warm water and letting it dissolve with about 1 gram of vitamin C. This seems to calm the adrenals and lets me fall back asleep more easily. Also, if low cortisol is a problem, I recently read NOT to supplement with melatonin, as it will decrease cortisol further. My sleep has vastly improved since almost eliminating melatonin. Dahlia
Guest guest
It might help to take some milk thistle or another supplement that helps the gallbladder and liver. If I remember correctly, waking at that time of night is a signal that those organs are not working well. I used to have this problem really bad, every night, would wake up anywhere from about 2:00 a.m. on and be awake off and on for several hours and usually fall back asleep right before it was time to get up and I would feel like crap when I got up. Since making all the changes I've done, I sleep great now, fall asleep easily and rarely wake up. If I do wake, it's usually to go to the bathroom and I fall back asleep easily again. This has been the most successful part of my new routine. (My husband says " too successful " .) :-) Linn > > >When I wake up between 2-4 am , I make a protein drink and that helps > me to go back to sleep for several hours.
