Guest guest
Good morning everyone! Quinn got casted this morning which wasn't too bad overall. He pretty much cried the whole time but it didn't help that he scratched his cheek right at the beginning. Anyway, what gets me is the discussion before we started. First of all, the orthotist asked if I understood what would be happening and if I had any questions. Then he starts to describe the type of helmet we would be getting which he explained was a Hanger helmet. I immediately stopped him and told him that it was my understanding we would be getting a STARband. I then asked him what the difference was and he kind of skipped over the question. Then I asked him how many he had done of each and he said that he had done over 150 STARbands and maybe half a dozen Hanger helmets. After talking to him for a few minutes, I think he realized that I knew what I was talking about and he said that he thought the STARband would be best for us. I thought that was really strange. I also loved the pamphlet they hand you that says, " thanks for choosing Hanger...we know you have lots of choices... " . I wanted to throw it at them and say no, we don't! Anyway, I am just ranting. On a positive note, he did recommend this group to go to ask questions, etc. I told him I was already a member and that I had learned so much from you all. Then at the end he said that it would take 2 weeks to get the helmet! Is that normal? It seems like a long time. Well, gotta go but thanks for listening. I am glad today is over and I am ready to move on to the next step. Tricia Quinn's mommy
Guest guest
Tricia, He was very confusing! I'm glad it went well. Let us know how the fitting goes and if you get the STARband! Two weeks is normal turn around. How old is Quinn? Younger than 6 months you hope it comes in sooner, like 1 week, but 2 is OK. Older than 6 months 2 weeks is fine. 3 weeks is not OK babies are growing quickly and it cold be too small or have major fit issues. mom to na DOC Grad SCtrixieb26 <beamanfamily@...> wrote: Good morning everyone!Quinn got casted this morning which wasn't too bad overall.
