Hi,

I have two cats and when they want my attention, one meows like crazy

and the another starts clawing my leg. They definitely let me know

about their presence then and there. Most people have children; I have

two cats.

I am amazed the water pistol worked for you. Our cat only stared at it.

It did not budge her. What finally got her off of our dining room table

was our ignoring her. It seemed she relished our yelling or throwing

things at her. It made her the center of attention, I guess.

She never took to the computer, thank God. Mainly because she is my

mother's baby. I am the one who towers over her and slams things down

which she does not like. She doesn't like loud voices and I tend to yell.

But, I am the one who feeds her so she knows when she wants me. My

mother is the lap provider. I can't get her near me. Probably since I

was the one who tricked her into the car to go to the vet. She won't

leave the house since that day. She was abandoned by her mother at

birth. We have had her from 6 days old. Mom would care for her during the

day and I pulled night shift. (I was working out of the house in those

days.) She is a beautiful cat as far as her markings go and from day 1

when she fell out of the box made into a bed and into the litter box she

never " went " anywhere else to do her " thing " . However she likes to roll

in her litter and her back has crap all over it. I have to find a groomer

but it won't be easy. She just doesn't come out to meet anyone. We had

the vet here one day lying on the floor on one side of mom's bed with mom

on the otherside trying to grab her to get her out to go to the Vet's.

That was her last trip outside. The vet would never come back either. The

cat has very strong muscles so she wins everytime.

at you like " why are you in MY house? "

Anyway - likes to jump up my lap, run up my chest, and perch on my

shoulder while I'm working. Needless to say, it's hard to type when you can't

move your shoulder. When I ignore him and don't move my keyboard tray to let

him up, he sits on his hind legs at my feet and starts boxing on my leg (the one

on the foot pedal). He does it so fast (no claws) that it reminds me of one of

those speed bag things in a boxing gym or something. It's really funny and I

have to stop working because I'm laughing so hard. Sometimes he likes to

" stalk " you when you're coming out of the bathroom, too. He'll hide around the

corner and box your leg as you walk by, but then he stands on his back feet and

does it.

Gotta love cats.

Oh yeah, the boxing ploy. If my cat wants to be fed, and I am walking

through the hall, she will hit my legs so that you could hear it three

rooms away. She used to also hit the legs of the lady who brought mom her

meals on wheels. But they laughed so hard she just continued to do it.

She does not have claws on the front two paws.

I have 2 cats. The 1-year-old knows not to come near my computer but she would

always try to climb the bookcase next to it. My husband got a triple plastic

shelve that is actually made to put children's toys in and I set it on the desk

behind me. I put towels in it and she seems to like that as her " bunk " where

she can be high up and in the same room that I am.

The 8-month-old cat tried to sit on my lap while I was working a couple of times

but there isn't enough room with the the pullout tray that the keyboard sits on,

so I taught her not to come near the computer. Now she thinks the office is

boring in the daytime but will sometimes stay in the plastic 'bunk' in the

evenings. They fight over who gets the bottom or the second one up sometimes but

will always work it out after a few minutes.

Well your cat is at least polite about it. Ours just throws anything off

the desk or table if she wants to sit there. Nothing polite about her.

Speaking of cat-speak, that's another funny thing my cat did the other day

when I was working (not typing on my keyboard but actually " speaking " ). She

likes to lie in a cardboard box near my desk and sleep while I'm typing. I

had finished an op report, and I mumble and read out loud when proofing. So

after being silent and just typing for so long when I starting mumbling

really fast, I guess she assumed I had suddenly started talking to her, and

she started talking back...a funny-sounding, deep meow kind of fast over and

over again, some short and some long meows just like she was making

sentences. She cracks me up because she has such a personality and is so

vocal sometimes. I've never had a cat like her before.

Her daughter is not as social and spends most of her time outside. She

brought us a live mouse last night. I saw her carrying it and called her on

into the house thinking it was dead and was going to get it and throw it

away, but when she put it down in the floor it took off. Needless to say,

now we have a mouse loose in the house. I don't know if it was in our house

to begin with, but it is now.

Mine balances on the back edge of my chair, pulls my hand off the

keyboard,( he's very strong), bites my ankle, bites my sleeve and when that

doesn't work, goes a little bit deeper and just looks up at me. When he

runs down the steps next to me, he crosses over in front of me very fast.

I'm surprised I haven't been killed yet! And all this for attention! I

suppose you all realize that if our children did this, they'd be in big

trouble!
