Guest guest
No offense but I know that...been on the net for over 15 years so I'm well familiar. Maybe I shouldn't have jumped in but you felt the need to apologize so you must have taken it the same way. For the person who wrote the email when you use a semi-colon it is a wink, when you use a colon it is a smile. When you make a comment like that and " wink " it comes across as harsh. I will leave it alone. with kind regards, Jenni Proud Air Force Mom! May God guide and protect our troops! It's hard to convey emotion in an email... so you sometimes have to remember to hang in there until you know for sure what was meant.... .. can be hard to do sometimes, though.... *shy smile* Topper () On Wed, 5 May 2004 18:05:18 -0500 " The Good Book " writes: > Yes, I took it as harsh. Guest guest
Mine arrived today, registered mail. Just a small padded envelope with a medicine-shaped bulge in it that rattled. Couldn't have been more obvious. It also had a piece of paper attached that had to be signed and (I guess) returned. The problem was it was all in spanish. The post office guy looked at it, flipped it over, and said in a disgusted voice, " Well, I don't speak Mexican. Just sign it anywhere " . Anyhow, I got it. -- prr > Weird huh??? Guest guest
I don't think Jenni called you harsh because of misinterpreting a " wink " , I think it was because you said " I'm not stupid " to whomever asked if you looked at the registered mail slip. Whether it's in spoken word or in an e-mail, it was meant to be sarcastic when all someone was trying to do was help you. I agree with Jenni, it was harsh. Re: Are " myrxforless " orders coming in?????? the 'wink' means 'smirk' or 'you're in on the joke, too' not 'harsh.' the whole reason people use smilies is to NOT seem harsh, because when you read statements online you can't convey emotion. the " ) " is a smile, the " / " is a sideways smile or 'making a face.' I have never heard anyone say the wink meant 'harsh,' that doesn't make sense to me at all. likewise, my little sign off is a smile with 'big eyes' 8) > No offense but I know that...been on the net for over 15 years so I'm well familiar.
