Guest guest
As some of you know I am repo'ing my son. However when I put him down for the night on his side in his Secure Sleeper he can get to his back. Any suggestions on how to keep him on his side so he can't lay on his flat spot? Thanks so much! Guest guest
Night time repo can be tricky. My dd started out sleeping in a bassinette in the corner of my room. My first move was to turn her around in the bassinette so that she had to look towards the rounded side of her head to see what was going on in the room or to look for me. At this time she was about 3.5 months old. She was also at this time napping in a bassinette in the living room, and since I was there to watch her at all times during a nap, my dh convinced me to let her nap on her tummy (which I DO NOT recommend you do without talking to your pediatrician first). When was about 4 months old we moved her to a crib in her own room and started letting her sleep on her tummy at night (again, DO NOT do this without consulting your pede first). When my son was a baby, his pede told us he could sleep on his tummy when he could get there and back on his own. could do this, so we let her sleep on her tummy. We also kept her turned, like we did in our room, so that when she woke up and rolled over onto her back she had to look towards the rounded side to see the room. We hung toys (she had a Fisher Price musical fish thing and a couple of musical stuffed animals where you pulled their tail and they played a lullabye) on the front side of her crib so that she had to look that way to be entertained as well. If you are committed to letting your child sleep on their back, there are still a number of things you can do in an attempt to keep them off of their flat spot. Again, turn them around in the crib so that they have to roll to the round side to see the room. Also hang the toys in the front of the crib like I have suggested. You may also put something in the crib under your dc’s shoulder so that they are propped to one side and can’t easily roll onto the flat side of their head. Some mothers use a rolled up towel or receiving blanket. This works but then you have the possibility, with a restless sleeper, of it coming unrolled and then you have a loose blanket in the bed which your dc can get wrapped up in. Some women have sewed the roll to their dc’s sleeper. They have also sewed fabric tubes filled with rice or poly-fil. One mother on this board uses, in her dc’s crib, a gel-filled wrist support like for typing. It is heavy so it won’t slide or roll around the crib, but it is soft so it won’t be too uncomfortable for the baby. I think that one is a great idea and if I had stuck with back sleeping for my dd I would have tried that. Check our Files section, under repositioning headquarters there is a section of photos of different repo methods from our members. Let us know if you have any questions. Guest guest
Duct tape? Sorry to be flippant. Nothing nothing nothing worked for my son. I ended up cosleeping and holding him in my arms all night to keep him off the flat spot, and it still didn't help. Lots of moms have great luck, though, so I am crossing my fingers for you! , 21 mos, DOC Grad 9/7 --- In Plagiocephaly , " momma6704 " <momma6704@y...> wrote: > As some of you know I am repo'ing my son. Guest guest
Have you tried attaching something to the plagio side of his sleeper. i.e. make it so he can't roll on that side and can't roll away from it. Like a piece of foam or sock filled with rice? Thanks, mom to na DOC Grad Tort Resolved SC www.thefilyaws.commomma6704 <momma6704@...> wrote: As some of you know I am repo'ing my son.
