Good for you, !!  I don't count my diet coke either.  In fact, I

always count them against me.  My nutritionist said that for every 12

oz diet coke, I had to drink an extra 12 ounces of water to undo all

the bad!  I'm down to just one diet coke a day... and it has to be just

right... over crushed ice, with a straw!

Thanks Janet. I don't think you should count soda as water at any time but to

each his or her own. I drink 2 Diet Dr. Peppers a day during the week at work. I

have to have my Diet Dr. Pepper if I'm going to sit at this desk for 8 hours.

They usually last me 4 - 6 hours and then I start my water and finish out at

home and at the gym. The problem is I don't drink enough water on the weekends

and out with friends. I have to start drinking more water. You pay almost 2.00

for tea at a restaurant or 1.09 for a soda at a store when you could get water

for free at restaurants and you can buy a whole 12 pack for 2.50. I want to cut

it down to 1 a day soon. That's my plan anyways. I want to stop them all

together but I'm not ready for that just yet. I did it once for 2 months and I

felt great. I want to do it for health reasons and energy reasons only. I

usually really slack off on my water drinking at SRD but not this year. That's a

promise to myself...MORE WATER! And I can't stand sodas with ice. They have to

be out of the fridge or the freezer and VERY cold. I don't like the iced down

water logged taste. I drink them faster than you I'm sure. I was bad today. I

had one Diet Dr. Pepper and a Diet Coke. :( I have another Diet Dr. Pepper

planned for later but maybe I will skip it. We'll see what kind of will power I

have later on today.

I hope you all have a great day! GEORGE

>>>HELON WROTE>>>Good for you Janet, you can beat those diet drinks, I'm down to usually a couple a week now, and sometimes just one. It took me a long time but I'm getting there and so can you.

Thank you for the

encouragement, Helon! I actually went the whole day yesterday without

a diet coke! First time in a very long time. My son gave up sodas 3

years ago while he was playing for a select soccer team, in addition to

H.S. soccer. He played year-round, and drank only water or

occasionally unsweetened iced tea. Even though he no longer plays

soccer since going to college, he still doesn't drink sodas. He also

gave up chocolate for some odd reason a couple of years ago. He's

never had a weight problem. Actually, its the opposite that I worry

about. The kid 'forgets' to eat. Instead of gaining the 'freshman 15'

this past year, I'm pretty sure he lost that much... and didn't need

to.

Congrats on cutting down on diet soft drinks, too, Helon! Just one, or

a couple a week is great! I have to get past that feeling that I

*need* a route 44 diet coke from Sonic to get me through the afternoon!

hugs,

Janet
