Hi !

I'll bet you didn't have a lot of liquids, or a lot of food before

you did the donation.

And hey, all things considered -- you're under strain, and worried

and anxious (not that there's anything to be anxious about, you

understand) -- it's not surprising that you fainted. I'd say you were

practicing your wiles, but you'd probly get mad at me...

As for your husband believing you obsessed.... Well, it's hard not to

be obsessed, when someone is about to rearrange your mouth for you.

And you'll have a while of odd food, and odd speech and looking, um,

different, to boot.

Are they not planning to plate and screw the upper as well?

I saw my neat three little screws on the x-ray thursday, and heard

those sweet words " The fixation looks like it's holding fine. "

Hallelujah!!!

The only time lately I've fainted after trying to give blood was one

day when I'd told 'em I'm problematic, and they'd ignored me and got

to chatting just as everything seemed to go well. So the blood just

stopped running. And they had to stop. And then I got all swoony and

almost lost it, out of pure frustration. Even tears. They wanna keep

your eyes open and you conscious, I think, just to be sure they

haven't lost you along the way -- which I'm glad they didn't, for

both of us.

I showed my surgeon your card Thursday, and he thought it was a

stitch! Even he didn't joke about moving things a foot. I think that

was a mite unkind, but you know how your relationship with him works,

or doesn't. And at this point, it does, right??? Before you know it,

this will all be a memory!

Hi Cammie,

Well, it seems I may also be sick (off to the Drs today)... and the

blood loss with the virus may have added to my fainting. The nurse

actually made me go have a big lunch before they drew my blood.

Yes, they will screw and use small plates in the upper. But, for the

lower they will use alot of plates and screws..

No, it didn't bother me at all with my surgeon joking about moveing

my jaw forward a foot. Its true and I found it amusing.

Hi Cheryl,

Back from the Dr's... Well, my arms are killing me because my

lymphnodes are swollen from white blood cells fighting some unknown

infection. Thank god that I am scheduled for surgery in three weeks

because my Dr said that if I weren't he would have waited another

week to prescribe me some antibiotics to see if it would clear up on

its own. I told him politely that I would have to have a fit if he

did that.. For god's sake, I am in pain. I can't sleep-it hurts. I

can't raise my arms-it hurts. I can't extend my arm-it hurts. So,

lucky for me he doesn't want to jeoporadize my surgery and he gave me

some meds.

If it came down to it I was going to have my old Dr back home write

me a scrip and have it transferred out here to IL!

-finally releasing my long held breath in relief that I didn't

have something worse-like mono (which is goign around here like

mad!)...

> Hi Cheryl,

,

Glad to hear that you 'copped' some antibiotics. You would think

they were made of gold the way the doctors are hesitating to

prescribe these days. I'm so glad that you have enough time to

recover before your surgery. If it's not one thing, it's another,

right?

, honey, hang on and think for a minute.. It's hard when you're

feeling lousy. It's harder when you're feeling lousy and just about

to get that great big prize that you've worked so hard to reach, and

see the grasp threatened.

But. If this thing, whatever it is, is not a bacterial infection,

antibiotics won't help. Weren't we talking virus a bit ago? And every

time you take an antibiotic, you increase the chances that whatever

bacteria happen to be riding along will develop a bit more immunity

to the drugs that could wipe them out when they attack you.

If it's mono -- you want to know that. Or if it's something else.

Please, find a physician you do not have to lean on and dictate to,

to treat the problem BEFORE you undergo general surgery. Isn't there

blood work that can find that out???

A culture? A white blood count? Those are the questions to ask your

general physician, not a demand for an antibiotic!

I don't know what swollen lymph nodes mean -- whether they mean

bacterial or viral or both. (I had 'em, years ago, with trench

mouth!) Or neither. For pain, you want other help. As in painkillers.

I'm no doc. I dunno what's the matter. But I know, even if it means

postponing the surgery, you want it cleared up before they put you

under and before they cut you in your mouth, which is far from the

cleanest, least vulnerable part of your body.

(Hey, kiddo, you still gotta design that vile green hospital gown

for me; i'll have something else wrong with me eventually! And you'll

get a Coty award if you do it right!)

I wish you well. I wish you on the other side. But I want your stay

there to be for a long, happy situation!

Hi Cammie,

No, its not Mono. I am not exhibiting any other symptoms. I know all

about the antibiotic epidemic.. I'm good, I don't demand

prescription when it is not bacterial. but, the PCP explained that

antibiotics help to break up the white blood cell clumps that are

causing my discomfort. He said that they don't know why it helps but

it just does.

OK. But you know I can't resist prescribing, or proscribing, Miz
