Hello sabrina,

ss> I agree with the melatonin, not working for long term

ss> insomnia.I too has suffered up until recently.I started having

ss> sleeping probs in my teenage years, and im 36 now.I curious how

ss> your Dr.is re-regulating your neurotransmitter production?Im

ss> wondering if it is some new procedure i have'nt heard about.

I am on a low nighttime dose of amitripltyline -which is an

anti-depressant in high doses but used in low doses for sleep disorders

and

prevention of bedwetting [in kids who don't sense they need to

go to the loo]

The mechanism is supposed to be by blocking the way cells of the nervous system

transport biochemicals called “amines,” amitriptyline is able to increase the

levels of circulating neurotransmitters, especially a neurotransmitter called

“serotonin.”

Best regards,

Alison

I took that for chronic back pain and found that I was a bitch during the

day. A midnight cortisol saliva test showed that my night time cortisol

never allowed me to get into deep sleep. Phosphatidyl serine lowered to

allow me to go into a deep sleep. I used to have what I thought were active

dreams. I never felt rested. I do now.
