Guest guest
Hello friends, My name is Aradia and I am a Massage Therapist. I have clients who have Fibromyalgia and I am very much concerned about helping them in their jouney. The reason I signed on for this chat is so that I can talk to all of you about how you are doing, your ups and downs, what works for you and what doesn't work. My hope with being on this site is so I can be a better therapist to my clients. More understanding. So I can talk to all of you and gain a better, deeper understanding of Fibromyalgia. Hugs, Aradia __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Aradia well unfortunately my experience with a theraputic massage therapist did not turn out well....She was great and tried her best and progressed very very slowly and was eager to help. Unfortunately it didn't work for me I had one of my biggest flare ups and my Doctor who prescribed it freaked ...I was so full of muscle spasms..She wouldn't even let me do my daily walks for 3 weeks. But I've heard of others that get so much relief from it. I think like everything else in FM it is hit and miss. A constant journey..My massage therapist felt very bad that she was unable to help and ended up making it worst... from CanadaAradia wrote: Hello friends,My name is Aradia and I am a Massage Therapist. Guest guest
, Thank you for sharing your experience with massage. I understand. Yes, each person is different, it is hit or miss, I hear you! Have you found something that works for you since then? In your experience, what has given you the most relief? Guest guest
Hi Aradia To find relief from my FM woes I have found that prevention is the best medicine...Getting proper sleep and some light exercise and experiencing a minimal amount of stress.....BOOM!! Then in comes real life with all its dips and curves and what was a few days of tolerable pain multiplies itself...for pain relief outside of meds, I find hot baths and gentle whirlpools are often a saving grace. (with soft music and scented candles) if its not in the wee hrs of the morning when I'm so groggy I nearly drown or burn the house down LOL I had a massage once that I enjoyed and caused no pain but my doc. did not want me to return as she was not therapeutic or licenced (just a pure relaxation experience) Also my insurance did not cover it . When I'm in a flare I have no choice but to take it VERY easy and let my body calm down . I am afraid to try anything new after my last experience with that poor sweet massage therapist. To me FM is a balancing act and I'm always afraid to upset the apple cart. I have to work full time right now and love my job. I'm terrifed I'll try something that eill intensify my pain and knock me off quilter for good. Am I making any sense to you? I'm not trying to whine I am so worn down from pain that I am terrified of more . Hope this helps Aradia wrote: ,Thank you for sharing your experience with massage. Iunderstand. Guest guest
Oh Aradia I forgot something that helps a great deal....two things actually One laughing at silliness and linding people like Ive found here in this group to listen and support me without judging. Sharing my ups and downs with the group in turns helps me feel validated, cared for, believed and lightens the load. Aradia wrote: ,Thank you for sharing your experience with massage. Iunderstand. Guest guest
--- Hi Aradia I just wanted to tell you my experience with a massage therapist. Two years ago my MIL gave me a gift certificate to have 2 massages. I went to the first session and she beat me up, the second one was much better, She told me when I was finished I would be so tired I would need a nap. That didn't happen and it also didn't relieve my pain. This year my husband bought me 2 massages with another therapist I went for my first session and I was amazed. When I got home I needed a nap I was so tired and when I woke up the worst of my pain was gone. I made an appointment for this past Monday and again I felt so tired when she finished and again I needed a nap. When I woke up this time again most of the pain was gone and it is Wednesday and the pain hasn't returned. My husband and I are going on a motorcycle trip next week we will be riding 500 miles each way on a 4 day trip, I have made an appointment for a massage the day after I return. I can't believe how much the massage helps me, the point I am trying to make is that if you have the correct therapist, you will become a believer as I did. It is like finding the correct doctor for our condition. I praise the massage treatment to everyone and I want to thank all of them for the magic they can perform. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > > > > 1.
