I just had an abdominal myo with Dr. Glassner in PA last Tuesday, and am

surprised how well I am doing. I don't know if I did something right to

have it go so smoothly, had great care, or just got lucky. I had wanted an

epidural, but it didn't work (only half my body got numb), so I ended up

under general. I didn't have many bad side effects from it: the only one

being horrible shakes for about 15 minutes. They did give me some

anti-nausea medicine immediately, but I never did feel nauseous. They put

me on a morphine pump the first day, but I didn't need it much. Then they

gave me some percoset, but again was only taking it occasionally, not

regularly. Now I'm basically just taking Motrin. Stayed in the hospital

until Thursday, and then drove back home to D.C. area. I haven't had any

problems with bowel movements or gas. Have had very little bleeding. My

stitches look pretty neat and are low enough (bikini cut) that they won't be

visible. I do sometimes feel a pulling/tearing/burning sensation internally

when I move the wrong way, but that is becoming less frequent. I also have

some weird swelling above the stitches: can see lumps and bumps; feels like

my abdomen is too full; can't eat much; and sometimes just ache there when

I'm on my feet too much. The hardest movement or position is always sitting

down or getting up, but I have been able to sit (if a bit reclined) fine

since the day after surgery, and have had no trouble going up and down

stairs. I've been walking everyday (though not very far or fast), eating

lots of fruits and vegetables, and resting off my feet a lot. If anyone has

any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them.
