Guest guest Posted September 20, 2001 Report Share Posted September 20, 2001 Hi Vicki I've just been sitting around licking my wounds .....LOL......my fall last week wasn't bad but my back still hurts and it took the zip out of me......... Yes, the lady from MAA called me also and I told her I would be riding with you ......I would think, considering the group, that they would have chairs but who knows.....oh well I have my wheelchair and in a pinch you can sit on my lap.......<VBG> (daughter) and I are going to Tulsa tomorrow for a miniature show on Sat...... She has fibro and you know the shape I'm in so we are taking 3 days for a 2 hr drive Get up late tomorrow AM and go,,,,,,,rest ........go to show Sat.....rest....and come home Sun when we wake up.......don't want to overdo with the convention so close. I have to go be measured for a new insert for my right tennis shoe and will have 6 weeks in that. If healing STILL isn't happening, they will get me a bone stimulator. I have my first sinus infection of the year--oh joy!! And tomorrow I am looking 'forward: to my first mammogram--kythe me relaxation!!! But in light of September 11, all of these other things really pale, don't they? Other than that, I feel pretty good. I had my first appointment with my new rhemaltologist (my other one relcoated to Chicago--she is Muslim and they told me in the office that she has been in touch and she and her husband have had their lives threatened--so sad!!!!). It just didn't seem appropriate to be writing a lot about a little for the last couple of weeks. Sorry about the foot bone. A lot of runners have problems with stress fractures of the shins, and one of the things they frequently mention on their bulletin boards is the use of ultrasound to get the healing process moving along. I haven't tried it (nothing broke when I was running) but it also seems to be one of those approaches which couldn't hurt, either. How is your class of well-behaved children doing so far? Stay cool. He is a San Diego Police Officer, but the accident didn't happen on duty. He, his son and friends were loading his truck to go to a big cook-out on the Bay. Apparently he stepped off the truck bed and landed in a pot hole. Well, as things turn out, I'm glad he broke his foot. He, of course, is not happy about it, because he's been put behind a desk at the station. He's a little bored, but I feel he's safer there for the time being. He tells me that the police are doing a lot of overtime (him, too) because of our national tragedy. They are tracking some suspects and investigating leads. Security in the city is on constant alert (as it is in Boston--my closest big city, and all large cities.) Pray for all of us, Anne-Marie. Pray for us and for all good people everywhere in the world. I am sure your son is very frustrated to have a broken foot at this time, but as his mom, I understand how relieved you are that he is " stuck " at a desk. My oldest brother, Evan, is a flight commander on a Navy Spy Plane. We don't know where he is today. I worry constantly about him. When the terrorists first hit New York, he was with his plane and crew in Puerto Rico having the engine replaced. Don't know what the status of the plane is at this time. I know he was rushing to get the plane back to Spain where it is usually stationed. He is the flight commander of an Orion-3, VQ-2 squadron. You all may remember the VQ-1 a short time ago was the plane that made an emergency landing in China and was held captive with the crew. There are only two VQ spy planes. The one that landed in China, the other is my brother's responsibility. We heard from him 3 days ago but nothing since. It is very nerve wracking. Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. Even now, years later, my foot still gives me fits. The bone stimulator thing sounds like a good idea to get things going. And, on top of the foot problems you have a sinus infection as well..... is there any more FUN that you can muster up? LOL I'm so glad you've found another good doctor to treat you. I think it's ashame how some Americans treat others. But look how long we've had the KKK running their mouth off. Makes no sense to me but that they are plain ignorant people. My dentist is also Muslim and 4th generation American... Heck, I'm only 2nd generation... I've asked him if he's had any problems and so far so good. He's got a great sense of humor but most of all, he has said time and time again that he and his whole family have been very blessed. On Friday, Eddie (a very tiny little guy with huge blue eyes, frumpy hair and freckles) was sent out of the room to the office to cock-a-doodle-do for 10 minutes. this seemed a need as he had been doing it during my aide's math group. When he returned he was a little more sober (a little, not much). he then started to "hssssssss" during Language Arts. I told him "don't even think about being a snake!!!!"
