Guest guest
Dear , I am 52 yrs old, married to a wonderful man, with 3 children, 27, 26, and 21. I am also a grandmother! With another one on the way in September. My family are really supportive and have really helped me get through this. I am an artist which is very convenient because I can set my own work schedule. I would agree that the fatigue thing coupled with the insomnia is a major pain. I also am a nurse but I only do camp nursing in the summer which is fun and not too stressful and the population is fairly healthy. I was dx. with UC/PSC in 2000. I have been fairly healthy eventhough I have PSC. It has progressed slowly and I am now listed for transplant at Chapel Hill with a MELD of 11. I too was extremely angry and depressed at the time of diagnosis. But I felt and still do feel that I have been given a chance to live a more intentional life by being given a heads up. I think if there is any advice I would give it's this: Deal with anger, talk with someone, take something for depression if you need to, BUT most of all love your life because none of us have any guarantees. It's just that we PSCers are a little more aware that its so precious. And also live your life. I am going to Greece at the end of May for 2 weeks with my graduate professors from UNCA. For peace of mind I took out a membership with MedJetAssist for $200.00 which will fly me home if I become ill and have to be admitted to a hospital. For no additional cost. Tell your husband to give it time, he's going to have to adjust to all of this, but he will. Good luck. If you want to ask any more questions, don't hestitate. This web site will be one of your greatest supports.
