jobs. or chat to your primary care giver also known as a General Practitioner

I am new to this group. I am 25 years old with deg. disc disease and

Fibromyalgia. I have been seeing a doctor in Cambridge Ohio whom I have to get

away from.

Dear :

First of all, welcome to the group! You have come to the right place. I have

only been here a short time and have already learned that I am not alone in this

terrible struggle of chronic pain.

Some of my biggest pain issues are spinal, too as are a lot of us here. DDD,

chronic compression fractures, scoliosis, many herniated discs, are all my

recipe for severe pain upper back pain. I have been in PA for about 8 months now

and am finally getting a lot of the testing that I need to see if there is

anything that can be done to help besides pain meds. It is taken a while to get

the doctors that I have needed to get me referred to the correct place. Now I

have got a ton of testing scheduled for the next several weeks. I am keeping my

fingers crossed.

As for you doctor, I know how difficult that struggle can be. I have been forced

into it by 2 major moves in the last 4 years. The important thing is that you

are bound to no one. If he/she is not helping you, then it is time to move on.

Just go to a new doc and have them request your records from the old one...or

even ask for your records yourself. If they ask why, you can go into specifics

or just tell them that you are moving...they do not need to know that your move

is to a new doctor. If you are staying in the same town, I would not bash the

old one to the new one, just say that you did not feel that you were getting the

help that you needed.

I do not know how big Cambridge is, but if you are close enough to a university

hospital, go there. You are less likely to run into any township cronyism there

and are more likely to get the most recent technologies as well. Once you are in

the university system, they can send you from department to department there.

If you must find a doctor in the same town, then do your research. Ask around to

your family and friends, and check on the internet. I know it can be hard to

break away from a doctor you have been seeing for a long time, even if that

doctor is a destructive force in your life, BUT you can do it and will be better

off for it in the long run.

Good luck!
