I would be very interested in a gathering. I live in the Los Angeles

area and I would love to have it down here. BUT, I lived in Santa

Cruz for several years and it would give me a great reason to get

up there and visit. ( Breathe some fresh air)I would love to help in

the planning of it also. Please let me know.

I'm in LA area and would be interested in a gathering down here. Depending

on the timing, I might or might not be able to travel to one in northern or

central CA.

Pat,

This sounds like a great idea! I am in Auburn

(30miles north of Sacramento) and Monterey or the bay

area would work well for me but I could travel to San

Diego as well. A fantastic speaker is important, of

course, and a winery tour sounds like fun. I would not

have a problem with a fee for dinner and tour. The

women in this group are quite a diverse group of

people and it will be interesting to meet them.

Hi Pat and all,

I am interested, schedule permitting, in a Bay Area/Monterey gathering and

perhaps even Southern California. I'm in the Bay Area.

Have you considered Asilomar as a venue if Monterey/Pacific Grove does seem

like a viable option? I have actually not been there, but colleagues of

mine who have say it's quite lovely and seems reasonably priced.

I would tend to be most interested in things like sharing strategies for

negotiating with insurance companies, doctors, medical staff, etc.; being

an informed and assertive consumer; and discussions of the " watch and wait "

vs. " intervene while the problem is easiest to solve " schools of thinking.

Not that one could not have such discussions in a winery or spa or on the

beach. of course!

Full disclosure: I am a journalist at KQED-FM, northern California's

largest public radio station; while this is not my beat, I would be happy

to talk to some of my colleagues who do cover health issues extensively

about doing something around such a meeting if it gets set up -- only in a

way that participants were comfortable with, of course.

cheers, Nina Thorsen

Yes...I would be very interested. I'm in the bay area, but willing to

travel south if the majority are located down there. Diane
